Trying to decide between those 2 ranged dps classes.

In your opinion, which do you think is more fun in general?

Hunter gets a legendary bow from the raid, so definitely go Hunter and pray

WHy do you like hunter more?

For me, I like hunting rare pets and taming them - best part. Also, you can play laid back on days or really get into controlling your pet, while moving, while paying attention to abilities.

A lot of people like to dumb it down, but I have three - lol
Only thing that bugs me is rares that take weeks of time aren’t account wide.

They always do decent damage in dungeons, but so do mages - however, I don’t do those often so there someone more qualified to speak to that.

I just have a crap ton of fun playing them. My mage was meh, but that’s subjective.

I say hunter because you can let your pet do the work while you make a sandwich. Mages are cool too, but a bit squishy especially if you mess up.

hunters dont get invites in keys… dont get a hunter.

Love your replies but I still undecided

Stop lying to him.

I have never played a hunter at cap so I cannot speak on it.

As for mage, frost is one of the most braindead specs in the game rotation wise. It can be fun if you get procs.

Arcane is pretty difficult to play at a high level. Personally I love the fantasy of arcane the most.

Can’t speak on fire because I’ve never played it. But overall, mage is better in pvp and pve.

I play both BM hunter & Arcane mage. They’re two very different classes but for someone who likes to solo I would choose BM hunter every time because they’re good at solo play in just about every situation.

On my mage, I basically stand still most of the time. On my hunter, I’m hopping all over the place.

I like the hunter more.

Hunter can control the field better. Feign death (macro it so your pet can too if you want a total aggro drop), misdirect, traps. Plus pet collecting.

PvE balance is always changing but I find them much more fun in the overworld.

Anecdotally it seems hunters yoyo a lot more from top of meters to middle/mediocre.

Mages always seem to have at least 1 spec towards the top.

In terms of fun, which one do you think is better?

I main a hunter, but my alt is a warlock. I recommend both over a mage. (i had one but didnt like it.)

It is very situational. Do you play any casters? There is a lot of stopping and cast time. Knowing when to stop/move. It is pretty consistent with any caster class if you have others.

Hunters you can pretty much hit all of your abilities on the move (for the most part).

Mages have some pretty fun/borderline op combos they can do in 2’s arena.

Hunters I find to be very easy to play and great for soloing stuff (old raids, elite mobs before you overgear them, etc. - due to the pet).

I genuinely enjoy them both.

Hunter because it’s not fun to be dying all the time in the open world. Maybe I’m bad but I die so much on my mages…

I have 5 Hunter alts and 3 Mages. Personally, I have had more fun with Hunters, because of the following:

  • All 3 specs are fun. Survival is very underestimated
  • Great transmog options and a huge variety of pets
  • Greater solo capability than mages
  • Incredibly OP in lower level battlegrounds

I still like my mages, except Arcane spec.

I personally Prefer hunter over mage because the mobility and because it is not as squishy as hunter. Of course mage has more utility but meh I Prefer raw dps and utility but in myself
