Hi there,
Started playing classic cos I was a bit dun with bfa.
First of all I use a petfirst macro while leveling:
/targetenemy
/petattack
/dismount
/cast hunter’s mark
Works ok for me.
I read some guides, wowhead and Icy veins. They advice certain rotations but if I use these I run out of mana very quickly. I have mainly agi/spirit gear ( tough scorpid) and use mana buff food. Nightfin soup.
What can you do about the mana except endlessly farming demonic runes?
Wich spells do you skip to preserve mana?
Are there chars that dont have resource trouble like this.
So far I enjoy classis cos there is a lot of grouping up and mutual buffing.
Hope it stays that way in endgame. Currently I am level 57 hunter on bloodsail buccaneers.
Greets
pet attack> serpent sting > auto attack, maybe throw in a multishot… No downtime

Honestly? Just use aimed shot whenever it doesnt clip an auto shot. The DPS guides are typically set up for a raid encounter and not concerned with longevity.
That said, things will get better with the ZG release (mageblood elixirs) and AQ (mana oils) until then maybe look for “of concentration” rings and necklace (they give mp5)
send in pet, throw out a multishot, white dmg until it dies.
Just obtained the shard of afrasa from a quest chain in the blasted lands. Helps a little.
I basically just use Serpent sting then if they are runners I use an arcane to get them before the go out of range, hunters can blow through there mana pretty easily. But because you have so much agility you do decent crit damage just with auto attacks
probably don’t spam multishot in raids even though it does increase your dps.
You want to abuse the 5 second rule when leveling, which means casting all your shots at the start of the fight and then autoshotting until it’s dead. The problem with this is that it can cause you to steal aggro from your pet (especially if its first attack misses or growl is resisted).
For this reason It really helps to get a pet that can frontload aggro for leveling. Boars are great for early levels before you get bestial swiftness, because they can charge to the target and their first attack gets bonus damage, meaning you’ll never lose aggro after a charge.
The other pet I find really good for leveling are Owls/Bats/Carrion Birds. Screech generates extra threat from the debuff it puts on the mob, and it’s spammable. I never lose aggro off my owl.
I hunters marks/pet attack, aimed-shot then auto till dead. Never have mana problems.
I save my mana for when things go bad. Like picking up an extra mob or pvp.
Lots of terrible advice in this thread. Keep using Multishot and don’t try to get MP5 gear.
Leveling rotation is immo trap–>serpent sting–>autoshot to death. R1 multishot is nice too. Aimed Shot can be okay but it’ll usually rip threat off your pet.
Raiding rotation is auto–>aimed–>auto–>multi, rinse and repeat whenever aimed comes back up.
Downrank multishot and use rank1 multi instead of max rank. Half the mana cost for 120 less damage. Be in a guild that kills boss fast enough that you don’t need to pop mana pots/runes. Runes aren’t too hard to get anyways, and a decent farm in Felwood while you grind for Cenarion Salve.
Your mana issues also won’t be as bad once you start using gear that has intellect on it instead of agi/spirit gear.
Arcane Shot, and Serpent Sting once you’re raiding.
Rogues and warriors, because they don’t use mana.
I’d include Warlocks too, since they can trade health for mana and use health stones, drain life, and hots from healers to replenish the lost health.
