Hunter is the squishiest class, change my mind… I main a BM hunter and I try to play MM for PVP. When I do PVP of any kind, no matter the spec, the second anyone turns their attention towards me, I’m dead if I can’t kill them first. No matter the opposing class, I’m screwed. Hunters can only apply healing to themselves once every 2 MINUTES and it’s only 20-30% of your health, which can and will be gone within 10 seconds of combat. Literally, every other class can heal themselves multiple times, or they are built for face to face combat. Atm, my ilvl is 172, so it’s not like I’m under-geared
“I’m dead if I can’t kill them first”- hey man that’s how pvp works for everyone
lmao, well I know that… but what I meant by that was if they are a melee class and they reach me first. Hunters have the Aspect of the turtle, which applies a shield which is good, however you cant attack so its really just a last resort kind of thing. Then if you have a tenacity pet, you gain Survival of the fittest, which again, applies a small damage taken decrease for 6 seconds. That’s about it for extra defense abilities and really, its not much.
Well your objective is to cc and kite not stand and tank damage, by that logic mages are the squishiest.
If you can cc and kite well you will have no problem.
I play mostly BM when pvping so take this with a grain of salt. Slow, kite, leech and speed is what I use and let my pet do most of the damage. When focused, you can use Disengage with posthaste every 20 seconds and it is a lifesaver along with Natural Mending. Aspect of turtle after first disengage, then dis, then you will want Roar of Sacrifice into Cheetah to kite big once they have burned their cooldowns. Make sure to slow with concussive shot and cast tar trap where you will be in 5 seconds to kite them through it if they use a distance closer. Of course Feign Death when you are about to eat a Gpyro or chaos bolt and can’t get to cover or use turtle.
I know LOS is a major factor when playing MM so do not get into an open 1v1 with melee or casters, it usually doesn’t end well because like you say, we can’t outheal their damage. But if you can pop out from cover to unload on CD then get back to heals or a pillar you are better off. SV in BFA played pretty high damage at melee range and was a blast even with what little self healing spirit bond gives.
Finally, if you want to live forever, play a healer. Otherwise, die with honor.
Warriors and Demon Hunters drop far faster than hunters. You have an escape, a heal, cc, and damage immunity (minus dots). You can even get another heal if you play BM with soul beasts.
Hunters are not the squishiest class. Sorry!
Just remember. Hunters are easy to play, hard to master
Impossible, literally, to change the mind of a bad player.
Prove me wrong.
It’s called running away, and Aspect of the Turtle is one of the biggest middle fingers to coordinated burst in the game when used correctly in a team fight situation.
BM hunter is still probably one of the tankiest DPS in the game.
While it’s still best for us to kite and avoid damage, we’re nowhere near the paper dolls that explode on impact with melee you think we are.
Wild protector gives us the defensive equivalence of 20% more versatility, endurance training gives us 7% more health (with HoA on and stam buffs + tenacity pet my fresh 60 hunter has 31k health)
You can press RoS, spirit mend, and SotF while stunned which is HUGE especially in this meta. Roar of sacrifice is also amazing as most of the 1shot gimmicks rely on crits, and it also counters MM’s kyrian arrow.
Survival tactics is also incredibly strong if you time it right, especially since you can now use it to nullify attacks after they are launched. Properly timed it will also stop gimmicks like convoke the spirits, ret’s divine storm 1shot, and anything similar that deals a large amount of damage in a short time window.
With survival tactics + craven stratagem you have a 1.5 second immunity and magic dot removal on a 15 second CD. 10 seconds if you use 1 duck and cover piece.
We are not squishy at all, my friend.
I find camo to be a lot better for WPvP. Most situations won’t last long enough for natural mending to be useful. Camo lets you reset. LW Marks can instant feign camo to escape, BM and SV can do it after dismissing their pet if need be. In 1v1s you can trap → feign → eat → camo and heal back to full.
Usually save RoS for people bursting into you when you’re stunned, or when casters are bursting (fire combust, skyfury totem) and you can’t range them or CC them otherwise. Cheetah won’t get much value unless you freedom first since you can just instantly be reslowed.
MM is actually advantaged without LoS since it’s incredibly easy to avoid MM damage with a pillar to hide behind. Without LoS marks can camo opener or reset and take advantage of sniper shot, as well as kite people in an indefinite straight line while still DPSing them.
Edit: MM is way squishier than BM since it won’t have buffed endurance training, no wild protector, no spirit mend, and no stun. If you want tankiness, play BM over MM.
Your dead because people have learned to kill hunters immediately due to how overpowered their damage is right now.
You also have turtle shell which is one of the best defenses in the game, as well as self heals.
You’re probably not positioning yourself well in fights. Hunters have literally zilch to complain about at the moment, including survivability.
You also have a shield that for some reason shattering throw will not break
Says the druid? lol
Never seen a comment fall more flat than this one. GG
Don’t think of your DCDs as a “last resort.” If you’re saving them for when you’re near death, you’re basically saving them for when you’ve already lost (unless you have a pocket healer!). Instead, use Aspect of the Turtle to mitigate enemy burst cycles. Basically, if you see them pop a CD (most of which have a pretty distinctive visual effect) and you can’t CC them during the burst, that’s when you want Aspect of the Turtle. As a side note, many players like to open with their highest burst, so believe it or not, the beginning of the fight can be a great time to use defensives.
Hunters aren’t meant to be tanky. Kiting is your defense, and use your traps, deterrence, feign death, etc for when you’re in a tough spot and you can’t kite.
You’re “squishy” because everyone is going to immediately target and kill you since Hunters are killing people very fast, just like rogues.
