After firing off a few shots I guess break out the knitting, maybe do my nails. After shooting a couple of shots my Huter is useless. The cost of repairing equipment and the time spent returning to my corpse really sucks the fun out of playing a hunter.
A pet helps with not needing to kite mobs when soloing.

Figured you were playing lone wolf marks. But I’m not having an issue on my… 13 hunters. Yes I know I have a problem haha
Make sure to misdirect onto your pet when you can, use feign death too if you pick up aggro, and make sure your pet’s growl is on.

Hunters are no longer a “facerollbrbautoshotafk” class. Now, you actually have to manage that resource. At low levels, it’s tough cause the pool is small and you are limited on skills (which is intended to help you learn other nuances). You might want to check WoWHead or YT and see if a skilled hunter has tips for you.
Okay, I was thinking you’re new… but you’re really super not, since you’ve got achievements from 2010.
So I’m guessing new to hunter. And you’re Marksman. You’ve got a choice! Pet or no pet. I suggest pet until you get used to how Marksman plays. Read your buttons! Some of your shots give you back focus. You’ll need to make sure you’ve got those as part of your base rotation. Don’t just hit a bunch of Aimed and Arcane shots. You gotta manage that focus similarly to how an Arcane Mage manages their mana.

After firing off a few shots Barrage, rapid fire, Chimera are unavailable. Focus has to refill, do not recall focus depleting so quickly and being so slow to refill the past summer. Have redone talents and no help. I have played this toon for years, never been this difficult.
…are you sure? It is still this way for me and my DPS is perfectly fine.

someone didn’t play hunter when you had a mana pool, an ammo pack, and had to keep your pet happy.

You can use aimed shot when you have to wait for focus to regen. Also a tenacity pet gives you an extra defensive and more health btw.

Oh but how I miss taming certain pets that could chase down epic mounts or had an attack speed of less than a second. Like the ZG bat.
You forgot the next-to-useless melee and the dead zone.

There are abilities that gain back focus. You should spamming them when out of focus.
I have chosen Hunter every expansion becoz they are Unkillable on the Open World PvE. We have feign death, Aspect of Turtle, misdirect all mobs to pet and run away, traps, stuns and run away. Practice. Dying is almost non existent as Hunter on open PvE World.
Always have a pet for tanking. Then you have Rapid Shot, Volly, Salvo, Bursting shot and with this expansion Black Arrow. And don’t forget, you can always throw some traps around to slow down mobs.
Some of those have cool downs but that can be managed.
Also, Trueshot will shorten cool downs and give you half your focus back.
And if all else fails, Feign Death.

Focus isn’t why you’re struggling.
Use steady shot as MM.
Focus regen is also affected by gear.
Why is it always your guild 
Focus has sucked since it first came out in Cata. Not near as good as the original mana based system. But still, Molly here may be new to a hunter and so didnt experiance the time when hunter pets would run off when you went afk too much or died too much or didnt feed the pets enough, or didnt feed the exact right type of food at the right times.
I for sure do not like the focus system but it is a massive improvement over the mana system that they used to have. There is a reason why a hunter is the only toon I have ever straight up deleted and never came back to and that was in original Vanilla and never touched one again until late original Cata. Focus isn’t great, but it beats mana in most every way.
