Hunter dev team?

At this point I’m beginning to think the existence of a hunter development team or game development team is comparable to the existence of mermaids. The community is begging for help with the hunter class and there is 0 evidence blizzard even recognizes there is a problem. The lack of communication between blizzard and their costumer base is extremely discouraging, just bad business. This is not exclusive to hunter issues but the game in general, with all the broken burst damage and class imbalance and 0 word from blizzard stating they recognize this issue and are working on it. Honestly, just a very poor way to run a multi million dollar business. I want to enjoy playing my hunter but the lack of power compared to S tier classes is immense.

I’m relegated to leveling alts even though I’d prefer to be playing my hunter but the class just does not hold up to any S tier or even A tier classes. We are quite literally are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to pvp. I truly enjoy playing this game and have been since vanilla but I feel this class in PvP has just been gutted far too hard since the days of cata and MoP. Here’s to hoping we get some kind of help…

You might be onto something.

What do you want them to say ?

“We forgot about hunters for a hot minute and our devs are too busy buffing fire mages”

Would at least be something

Even hearing that they recognize there is an issue would be nice to hear.

Hahahahahahaha! Hunter Dev team… you mean the 1 guy who is prob assigned to a third of the classes, and he was prob told to forget about hunters, they have been crap and nothing has changed about them for 2 expansions, they will be fine.

But we we got a blanket 5% damage buff, doesn’t that mean BM and SV hunters won’t be meta-ignored from now on? Oh and now there’s rumored to be a MASSIVE 280% increase to spitting cobra. I mean, WOW. That’s huge! Right? …right?

Yeah, I’ll save you some room here in the burning dumpster fire of a class.

Ya, I love how spouting Cobra was made out to be a huge buff. Then you realize base damage of the ability was around 1500 damage over time and 250% damage increase makes it around 4K damage over its duration. Still laughable.

Lol yeah hunter’s do kinda feel like a dumpster fire of a class atm. Sad part is there are so many solutions that could be easily implemented without a massive rework to make us competitive again but seemingly blizzard ignores our forums completely.

The most annoying thing is that for the most part blizzard could probably even get experienced folks to volunteer to fill this role. Veteran players that make decisions best for the game and they get passed up and someone makes the changes for them, that way there is some type of audit to prevent mega-buffing or nerfing.

So many tools they could use to better the specs. If a dev spent one or two days on each spec and actually did some forum research they could probably be more effective with tuning as well.

Sad to see this state. Knowing that needed changes could take weeks, months or years (look at bfa warlocks in PvP for OVER a year).

No reason a dev can’t make a quarterly update post to each class forum.

Volunteer ? Feelsbadman. They’re milking the crap out of wow and have more than enough to afford a full balancing dev team if they cared about it.

The people in charge couldn’t care less and they’d rather put one more milly a year in their pockets than make the game actually fun an good. Which is quite stupid because a good balance and fun system design will keep player retention way higher and generate more profits.

I mean you just solidified them trying to make as much as possible and not spending the money on staff.

A community solution is not a bad thing. It’s clearly not something that requires a full time position. And the game won’t make money forever, so it should probably go on that path anyway.

I think the notion of a team of people dedicated to a single class is something players cooked up over the years, because it makes sense to us that is how they’d manage something we perceive as being important. I don’t think that’s anywhere near the reality though. Chris Kaleiki talked about that a bit in his “why I left Blizzard” video. From what I remember of him talking about it, he had the same idea, and was surprised to find that it was usually one or two people max that would take on something like that periodically and do it all.

I’m agree with Stoopz, who talks about getting frequent and well communicated minor adjustments at a more regular interval. I know that flies in the face of milking this game for all it’s worth for Activision-Blizzard and only having the bare minimum number of resources necessary to keep it limping along, but it’d be a nice sea change.

I also just want some new ideas in there. I feel like we’re getting one dev’s current interpretation of another dev’s interpretation of another dev who originally put the class together. I’d love to see some spells and mechanics come into the classes that push the game forward a bit, whether it’s zone denial abilities or skill shots with high risk reward or just anything other than rehashed, renamed abilities that existed in vanilla.

Very likely you are right that there is no Dev team for each class. That being said considering the money Blizzard makes annually I would have hoped they could dedicate at least a couple staff to each class to make sure balancing is a continual process for all classes. Judging by the current state of the game though you are right this probably does not exist. For me it is the lack of communication with the player base, christ just give us a blue post once every quarter or something. We make constructive suggestions on these forums for a class that is clearly lacking sorely in PvP and mediocre in PvE and the suggestions are ignored and left to die.

I think it’s a disgrace that the dev team have abandoned Hunter.

I volunteer 3 years into the future to fix hunter if they ask me.

Survival gets a robot pp to touch the competition with.

Mm gets a rocket launcher that fires squirrels.

Bm gets a trex pet holding 2 ak47s.

The hunter dev team in 2024 are probably the cleaning lady, the janitor, and the part-time intern
