Hunter class is torture. Wake me up when it's better

Not a whine post. Just here to voice my…uh…voice and thoughts on un-fing this class. All of the specs.

I’ve played my hunter (like the ex wife played me hehe) for 15 years, and there’s been a boat load of changes…sure. This has been the worst expack for MM, especially. I won’t waste time on surv.

MM is slow, no mobility like we used to have, our nuke not only costs 35 of our focus, but you have to stand still or dps drops, and wait 2.2 seconds. At first, I kinda got over it…in a way. Been playing my pally and drood, and going back to this awful rotation is…well…I’d rather be forced to watch a marathon of Mountain Men or Twilight. Ugh.

BM is just boring and you don’t feel anything when playing it. It’s empty, simple as some color tapping puzzle game on mobile. It’s mobile, but I would rather see BM and Surv back to how it was before Legion, even.

Surv…lol

Both are just unbearable.

Aimed Shot…something’s gotta give. Lower the cast time from two weeks to a day…seriously, to about 1 second and make it mobile, at the cost of a reduced damage…of course. Or, just make it mobile. Standing still in a raid or mythic, for almost 3 seconds is just…no. Lower cost to 20 or 25 focus.

Arcane is…arcane. Magic and a bullet. Bang. Done.

Focus regen is meh. Fire two shots and then steady, steady, rapid. I’m prob. one of the few that doesn’t care for rapid fire. It’s short lived, chaotic and doesn’t feel controlled. Steady shot is cool, I just don’t want to have to do it a dozen times to regen focus for two shots. That’s just silly. Make it so Steady shot is slower but regens more.

Give us back kill shot, glaives, black arrow, volley and the old explosive shot. I’ll trade in “dubul tap” (it’s just a stupid skill), piercing shot, and rapid fire for those.

Now I need a cig. It’s late, I can’t sleep (as usual). I might brew up some hot, tasty coffee, and smell the nice bag of beans for a few mins. Leave your thoughts, but don’t fight.

You need real ammo and food to feed your pet, ( so it dont attack you) … Thorium Bullets or Arrows .
Standing still gives you Better DPS , its a bonus .

Funny you mentioned that, I do miss the vanilla hunter. I did like having to use ammo, and keep my pet at “best friend”, and mana instead of focus. Some will say mana didn’t make a ton of sense, but the shots were magic used, that’s how I look at it, anyway.

Are you kidding me?

You must not have played through the beginning of Legion, especially the raids - Emerald Nightmare was exactly that for MM hunters. That’s what caused me to swap reluctantly to BM, b/c of the lack of mobility.

This xpac, MM has had far more mobile ability than it did last xpac for sure.

The only real issue I have with MM.

Actually, I didn’t lol I played the last month of Legion, before BFA. I wasn’t aware that it was that bad for MM.

It could still use some more mobility, however. It needs improvements, and I’m not that good at coming up with ideas. These are the best I could think of.

Legion marksman was pretty bad but it always shined in AOE. ST MM was just god awful. There was also that time during TOV where ALL THREE hunter specs were dead last on sims, but we don’t talk about that. Edit: Did well at the start of TOV before nerfs, and near the end where cleave was possible it was still good. Still got stomped by shadow and affliction tho.

It’s pretty bad, in that aspect. Even when I got my haste to 20%, it was still at 2.1 cast time. And I was sacrificing mast, agil and crit. Ugh, can’t win.

You know, perhaps MM should’ve been like that since the beginning. I think it makes way more sense that a marksman should stand very still when taking aims.
The flavor is right, but i’ll agree that the gameplay could use a lot of works.

I’ve been maining MM for raids and M+ since the beginning of Legion. Honestly, I don’t know what OP is talking about. I have no issue with mobility outside of one phase of one raid boss, and that would be the 3rd phase of Rastkhan when the raid splits in half.

I enjoy the balancing act with my focus resource. I enjoy switching between moving and planting myself for an aimed shot. It means I have to plan 3-5 seconds ahead of where I am. And with the right talents and traits you can reduce that cast time to turn yourself into a cannon. It’s a heck of a lot more satisfying than BM’s spammy playstyle.

MM is fine.

Maybe fine, but many that played it for longer than 1.5 expansions will tell you it’s not fun.

Sure, that’s why there are fewer players using MM in BFA than in Legion, and why nearly 80% of all Heroic and Mythic hunter logs are Beast Mastery.

go classic, there’s mana, dead zone and arrows

I said I raided as MM for the past three years. I’ve had this toon since Vanilla. I remember when my job in UBRS was to kite General Dragonbro all through the dungeon while the rest of the group killed adds. I’ve hit the level cap on this hunter half a dozen times. I do know what I’m talking about. And I think I have the experience to know when I’m enjoying my character or not.

I won’t deny that BM gives you better numbers on logs. But I thought this discussion was about the fun metric. MM is just more raw fun than BM for the reasons I’ve mentioned in my prior post.

For you. Opinions are just that though. Some people like eating live grasshoppers too.

Not sure where the numbers argument is coming from, unless you quoted the wrong person. You also said “mained,” not “raided,” in the post I replied to, which is fairly ambiguous.

I’m glad youre having fun, but I think it has been in steady decline for a while now, and I hope Blizz looks at more successful iterations and adjusts for 9.0.

You say that, and yet…

The numbers argument was a response to…

My point being that the reason for this stat is the overall superior DPS of BM. When you get into progression raiding people tend to favor specs that perform better regardless of how much fun they are.

And I’m not sure why the confusion between maining and raiding. But to clarify, I only got into serious raiding with Legion. However, I have always had this character as my main for the bulk of the other content from basic quests to dungeons. My /played is somewhere in the ballpark of 120 days.

Raiding implies at least a minimal level of competence/experience. Maining could mean that your hunter was your bank alt for the previous 12 years.

I really enjoy MM. With the right traits/trinks aimed shot is under 2 secs for half the fight.
