Did hunters still have to farm for Bullets/Arrows or buy them? Did they still have to use a bag slot to hold them?
Yes and yes. That didn’t change until Cataclysm or Mop, when the geniuses at Blizzard said, “Some of our players are saying that a hunter being a class built around a ranged weapon and a pet is inconvenient! Let’s make it a mail-clad mage with some graphical differences, such as its fireballs resembling a beast chewing on the target!”

There is a bow from the last boss of the last raid that generates magical arrows so you dont have to use a bag slot for ammo! Will be very convenient for the few months till wrath.

IIRC, the lack of actual ammo resulted in a net loss of DPS if you compared it to whatever was the BiS epic at that point + ammo.
Could be wrong on that though—I just remember Hunters complaining about it at the time.
Until you get the legendary bow, yes.
I hate that this is totally accurate.

This was the main things people that came from retail to try / return to classic. Alot of them use to have hunter post ammo removal and was caugh off guard.
I’m probably of the minority that ammo should have never been removed as it was part of the rpg. Yes in a tabletop rpg you can enchant a range weapon to magicly create ammo but if you dont you need ammo like we do now in WoW Classic.
The removal of ammo was a bit controversial subject between hunter when they implement it, but remember they have removed in this time as well all reagent from all spells for ‘‘convenience’’ That is what i like about the Classic wow is you have to be aware of your class needs.
I would never removed reagent / ammo if it was for me.

Yeah I figured that could have been wrong—I never played hunters that’s just what I was hearing a LONG time ago.
Yes and yes. Wasn’t till they removed ammo at the end of wrath(?) that you didn’t need to hit up the AH or be an engineer for the best bullets/arrows.
