Soooo honest question. I check icy veins or wowhead or wherever. Everyone has their suggested builds, but none of them ever have tranq shot.
Why?
I am always using this on solo play, events, dungeons and raids. I see an enrage or a shield and I am using that shot.
Just seems odd that any guide I see/read ignores this talent and it seems so helpful.
I’ve been using the wowhead M+ build and it has tranq shot in it.

Which hunter spec are you?
A lot of hunters will opt out of it because other classes can cleanse in their groups. DH, shaman, priest (MD) all can. But tranq shot is quite good when it is needed so I would take it if you feel it is needed.
Yeah. I use it all the time. Im always surprised when I see that enemy buff hanging around
All the SV M+ builds have tranq shot with them, and any raid fights where it’s relevant would be recommended
Maybe that’s it. I main MM and keep BM as a secondary. But don’t check the Survival parts.
I take it for my M+ build over 15s, but skip below that (MM).
I take it regardless because I dont trust anyone else to use theirs.
Purge etc, doesn’t dispel enrage, while tranq does. Probably more useful for pvp I’d assume. And, lets face it, tranq shot should be baseline.
Very true. Ive had it since Molten Core and whatever the corehound boss is named. The things we have to build into like this, our silence and scatter should be baseline.
And just like above, I trust no one else to use it.
I always run it, their talent build is good at helping me figure out which talents do good dps but the utility talents always comes down to what I need and what I like.
Always use those sites as a base to get an idea of how to start and adjust to your play style from there. I definitely hate builds that get posted that don’t include any kind of interrupt or de-enrage effect if the class has it available, because so many people only ever do cookie cutter builds and never deviate from it.
And then complain how we lack utility and don’t bring anything to the group, when they are ones that opted out of it.
Always have tranq shot for m+ and use it as much as you can.
Its our only truly useful utility.
You don’t have to run misdirect as BM since you won’t be ripping aggro like MM does.
only take it if your tank needs it for specific pulls.
I learned over time, that a lot of those builds are situational… for instance in a fight against most bosses in Raid you dont need tranq shot… so a lot of guide remove it in favor of a slight dps boost, or CD reduction else where. Like a guildie reminded me, use those guides as just that, and pick and choose what is better for you. I use Tranq and Wailing shot often in M+, hardly ever in Raid
