Hunter Build and General Questions

I haven’t played WoW since 2010… My main has always been a hunter. My husband and I decided to get back into the game recently. Things are a bit different now, and to be expected after 13 years. I have the following questions:

  1. What is the best resource to determine the best DPS spec and rotation for dungeons and PvE for levels 1-69? I’m currently level 58. Should I use wowhead.com as a resource?

  2. When I stopped playing it was not possible to use two pets at once. One of the pets is a generic tiger with the name of “cat.” I can’t dismiss the cat, abandon it, or rename it. It’s not in my stable… How do I use two of my actual pets that are in my stable not this random cat?

  3. What are the best pets to use now?

  1. There’s also Icyviens for information. You could look at YouTube for guides, but I just stick to Wowhead or Icyviens for the ease.

  2. In the first stable slot you place the pet that you want as your companion. Go to a Stable Master and ask to stable your pet that you want to use, and use the first slot any other spot will not select the pet.

  3. Clefthoofs or Scalehides are the best for tanking pve/ world content. Spirit Beast are the best for dungeons and raids.

Hello, welcome back to the game. Both wowhead and icy veins are great resources for general info, builds, rotation, etc. Wwhen it comes to pets the best resources is Petopia, where you can find all the info you need. I suggest always have a ferocity pet since it provides Primal Rage (Bloddlust) pets of this family are preferred by Survival Hunters due to the passive 10% leech. Another must is the Tenacity family pets; they provide a great defensive ability in the Fortitude of the Bear. If you like to pvp have a Cunning pet as well as a cunning one. I personally use the Hyppos they are great tenacity pets and have the Mortal Wound’s ability; Fenryr (Wolf) is an awesome ferocity pet with a unique model; same goes for Reban (undead Raptor) to cover the cunning family. Beast mastery hunters are the only hunters capable of having 2 pets at once as well as tame exotic beasts. Welcome back to the game.

  1. Absolutely nothing matters between levels 1-69, except for maybe levels 60-69 where people might gripe if your DPS is less than 10% of the entire group. This is intentional by Blizzard. They will never make leveling interesting because it might upset the players who only want to play late game content (which is pretty much the only players left after all of the levelers went to Classic WoW so they could enjoy actual good leveling content).

  2. Stable a new pet in Slot 1 of your Stables. It defaults to “Cat” when you only have one Pet.

  3. Just grab a Cat and sulk for us MM Hunters who can’t do any damage this patch.
