So they redid Dark Ranger only to make it inferior. Both single target and aoe specs in raid are now running Pack Leader. And both specs are comparitively worse that any other class. AOE is whatevers, it’s always been bad. But Single Target boss fights have always been our strengh. And now we are like mid behind classes doing aoe. I really do not understand what the whole hoopla was the Ranger changes only to make them non usable.

I can’t say for packleaders out there but I’ve started gearing for dark ranger waaay before the patch and I am really enjoying the new design.
In my M+ runs I don’t think my dps has gone lower. In fact, being ilvl 626, I’ve been doing quite well on the charts. Now hunters aren’t the preferred class for pugs still but I’ll take any wins atm.

Alternative theory is that you’re just mechanically playing bad as your dps would be considered low for your ilvl even prior to the rework which buffed us.

Isnt pack leader the best atm? Dark ranger was reworked and now its only good in burst aoe?
Funny thing is now that I have played PL its okay but its safe to say people expected more from this rework.

It’s just that PL is also stronger.
What was buffed on PL that made it so much better this patch?
Last raid I started as DR then switched to PL and noticed a big diff right away.

Baseline hunter / bm was buffed / changed, which PL scales well with.
It’s not that DR got weaker, it’s just that PL got more stronger.

Do people just see one doomer post and just don’t do actual research on the spec or you know, test it out for them selves?
Can confirm as used it on brood prog last night. Felt really good compared to before patch.
I’m pretty happy with where BM is right now, in both keys and raid.
Especially DR in keys. Though, from my understanding according to the trueshot lodge, its riddled with bugs both positive and negative so when they get fixed we don’t really know where DR is gonna land.

You will be glad to note that survival is snickering at bm and marks.
Anyone else having a kind of bug with black arrow where it looks like I can press it but can’t? It’s kind of annoying.
The rework has been great in pvp. Maybe it’s a you problem.
Enjoy it while you can, they already nerfed Black Arrow damage in a hotfix patch yesterday by 10% and are nerfing it further come Tuesday with Bleak Powder getting damage removed from the Primary target.
Honestly at this point, what is the purpose of a hunter class (regardless of specs)?
ST damage? Nope, got arcane. AOE? Nope, literally every class out shines it. Interrupt? Longest cds in the game. Slow? Other classes do it better. Buffs? Hunters have buffs teams want?
I know this forum is mostly on numbers and they are important but a big selling point of this expansion is the class fantasy and hunter has no identity whatsoever.

Yeah I’m sure it’s doing terrible and that’s why they’re nerfing it… this is the most fun hunters have been in a long time. My only concern is the last talent point in the dark ranger tree. Every three casts of BW causes death below to instant cast. That feels so incredibly clunky. That is literally the worst thing about the spec and it needs to be changed. Hunters are not resto druids with the reforestation talent that turned into a tree… I hate that stupid talent and how hunters have a similar thing. Such a lazy boring design
