Hey Hunters,
Has anyone had success with the Combat option for auto switching between melee and ranged weapons? I cannot get this to work nor can I get the option to stay selected? Perhaps a client bug?
I played hunter in Vanilla, Retail, Classic, Classic BC, and Classic Wrath and never noticed this issue. First moment on my lvl 1 hunter on Classic Era I noticed this change immediately.
Did you have any success in finding out the answer to this concern? I lose passive damage and the gameplay is slow with having to select auto shot when I go to pull mobs or leave dead-zones etc
For me it works about 50% of the time going from auto shoot to auto attack but it has never worked going from auto attack to auto shoot. It seems to be a problem with a dead distance between the two hit areas. I did do a bug report.
It is the new UI doing this.
There is somewhere, if you scroll down, a new option - it is ticked by default (stupid), untick this one, and it works like it used to do in Classic.
So I can shed some light on all the funky stuff going on here.
As a Hunter: In original 1.12.3 if you are auto shooting someone and they run into melee, your Auto Shot turns off, and you do not swap to melee attacking automatically. If they run out of melee you’ll have your melee attack queued and ready, but do not automatically swap to using your ranged weapon unless you press Auto Shot.
In 1.14.4 if you turn off the setting Auto Attack/Auto Shot which is on by default you restore the old 1.12.3 behavior where you have to press everything manually.
In 1.14.4 if you have the setting Auto Attack/Auto Shot on by default you end up with a weird behavior where if your target is in melee range and you queue melee attack, you will attempt to melee them even when they’re out of range. If they are in melee and you queue autoshot, you’ll begin meleeing and when they move out of range they will get shot. If they are ranged and run into melee you will go from ranged attacking to attempting to melee.
The issue is definitely with the deadzone. It seems like this setting was never implemented in a world where hunters had a deadzone. So there is no fluid change from bow to melee. If you don’t successfully get off a melee or ranged attack because of the dead zone - it seems to turn both attacks off. This is kind of similar to old behavior where your auto shot turns off when your target reaches melee, and your melee doesn’t turn on - so you have to input an ability/start attacking to do something. It’s jarring to have a setting like this that’s supposed to make it smoother but just makes it rougher around the edges.
Think the main issue is that it’s on by default or shouldn’t be in the vanilla version of the game. I’ll pass it along.
Unless I’m missing something, it appears they’ve broken this setting again in the latest client (14.4.4.51056 on 8/24).
It’s been fixed back to how it behaved in vanilla/Classic.
And removed
At least they got that right.
Now just missing the 111 other bugs.
Like:
- I turn when clicking bobber when fishing if not looking straight ahead,
- TP to GY instead of entrance upon dungeon reset.
- FP markers on Minimap and no way to hide them.
- FUGLY Options UI with he old Era setting buried deep
- fugly Character select screen
Add to the list if you care. maybe one day …
This one has been in the game for a minute.
When I was doing HC on BSB it was very frustrating.
And this might be due to the new client since you get teleported to the GY if your doing a Heroic and since dungeon in HC have a lock out and reset now it might just be the same code.
I solved this one by enabling left click interact and I pushing it on bobber.
For the past day I haven’t had any of my attacks auto switch. I’ve been on a mage, druid, & hunter. I remember at least one of these would auto switch, but now none of them are.
Yes, how do you fix this? It is annoying.
Hehe, yes, I did not say all my bugs were recent
And while it’s nice with explanations, bug fixes would be way better
True and nice … but it would just be so much nicer if Blizz could fix their bugs instead of us having to whip up workarounds to play
That was an error. It was implemented with the new UI and bug-fixed the day after the HC servers launched. Auto switch was not a thing in Classic.
That wasn’t a thing in vanilla/classic.
It’s not automatic in classic.
I can’t find this option anywhere. Playing SoD. Works fine in wotlk era
