Hunter arena

So, because of work, I don’t really have any chance to further progress in Mythic Ny’Alotha or however its spelled, so i figured I’d catch up on old mounts and try to maybe get the vicious mount this season. My question is how? I’m generally good in bg’s. I can escape people trying to kill me. My iLvl is pretty decent at 470. I’m getting absolutely facerolled almost every match. It’s not even fun. I have no idea how to escape melee in arena, and they bring my 500k+ health down in like 2 seconds. Are we this bad or am I this bad?

We are indeed this bad.

BM is a really bad spec in pvp right now. Marksmanship lacks a lot of survivability but does some decent dmg. Suvival is the best spec.

Maybe they’re purposely ignoring MM and BM so people will switch over to hteir little pet project in MSV. Honestly, I set my loot preference to SV, but I also put all my corruption into BM. So even if I get a weapon to match my BM weapon(unlikely, as my BM weapon is 475), my SV will still suck because I stacked crit. SL better be awesome, or I’m done. BfA is trash. Ion Hazzikostas has no idea how to make a game actually fun.

It didn’t work, and I accomplished great things with MM despite Blizz’s intentions. A MM in the right hands can throw down as well as the rest of them. I could argue as it would be my right that Blizz didn’t nerf MM enough to make it nonplayable.

I’ll start stacking Echoes for an MM pvp build. What do you recommend? I’m assuming straight vers, since we have low survivability?

I would stack Mastery more. That’ll give you more damage point for point than Vers. The best defense is a good offense so the more damage you can do that way, that would put the enemy on the defensive. However, Vers would come naturally. I have 9.46% base Vers using Lucid Dream procs.

On my Hunter in question, he has 762 crit rating, 1,303 haste rating, 1,673 mastery rating, and 804 vers rating.

Just don’t stack crit, whatever you do. Our crit at 0 rating is plenty high.

well… !@#$ i guess i need 30k echoes to replace all the corruptions i bought. I made a druid for pvp next xpac if i continue to play, but I have a playstation. I don’t know if it was Ion that made wow bad, or Activision, but this game is not playable unless you play the correct specs right now. FotM is one thing, but straight up unplayable for a part of the game that many people play for… that’s not a good game.

BFA really took some nasty QC hits. The expansion never really got a fully comprehensive balance review, not even from last year. The changes to Sniper Shot, Bursting Shot, and Rapid Fire were indeed nice back in 8.1.

BM for both legion and BFA have their damage scaled really bad in pvp settings for reason I don’t understand. MM is very threating with its damage but very easy to lock down in arenas. SV has great damage and control with the harpoon ice trap combo along with the amazing mending bandage which is a solid answer to sin rogues.

BM is the go too spec for both raiding and mythic plus, let SV have something bruh.

I actually just used a 110 boost to make a Rogue because of this. PVP is my favorite part of the game and even the few top Hunters (Hogx and Dillon are the two I think I remember reading) are saying we’re becoming less and less viable in PvP. I so far only see this getting worse with the 6 second pet rez still in place for Shadowlands.

I really like playing hunter in random BGs, but arena content has been so difficult. We’re ok at almost everything but not great at anything, and I think that’s ultimately where the problem lies. We do good and even excel as a support class in BGs, but in arenas you don’t really have that option.

It’s hard to stay alive long enough for our great sustained damage to secure a kill before we get killed. You get one decent burst out of Reaping Flames if you use it but that’s it.

Post on the arena forums. It’s far more active and you’re likely to get responses from hogx or dillon. You’ll get crappy responses but you’ll also get good ones that outweigh the trolls.

I am not doing arena but I noticed that versa could really help you out to survive and to increase dmg. I have around 30%versa and I am focusing also on mastery with my pvp gear and at least I am not burned in 2 secs. While I write this post armory is showing my pvp gear.

Watch MatassoTV he builds MM for arena.

MM’s gimmicky and feels awful in arena. If you want to farm mount % on your hunter, pick up a melee weapon and get swinging. Most everybody right now who isn’t Warlock is stacking Vers or Gushing Wounds so you’d have to get them anyways for an arena build.

MSV’s pretty fun in arena. Watch some Jellybeans or Dilly or Ssds and give it a try. Don’t go in sure that you’ll hate it and you might find yourself having a good time.

Not really true. MM is awkward, BM can succeed in the right comps, and survival is very strong on paper but the meta is against it. If rogue/mage/destros weren’t running rampant people would be complaining about survival hunters being op.

I’m pretty sure that to about 25-30% and rest verse with a mix of gushing wounds and versa amps is the way to go with all 3 hunter specs atm.

Wow, this is what I call a 110+ IQ answer. Not that I was fishing for this, but I speak in the language of comparatives. We’re bad compared to practically everything else, whether we’re good or not.

The meta is simply against this entire class, all 3 specs. That would explain why our representation also is what it is.

That’s exactly why I never believed it for a second that SV was strong. Because again, Comparative language fluency. Not when practically everything else is stronger. Otherwise, more and more people would have found to make it work, and others would follow suit to copy-cat their successes. That’s just not believable in a historical pop drop of the class.

This all sounds like alot of words to simply say "I’m bad and it’s my class’ fault. Which just isn’t the case. Also, from the look of your profile you have not participated in the arena much so I don’t see how people can take your word seriously here.
