This right here is why the profession revamp has been heavily critiqued since launch. Because a situation like this where it is 7 months in, I have done my phial experiments on CD for as long as I can every single day and this recipe has never procd. It is now a problem more than ever with the phial cauldron being thing and me being my guild’s cauldron maker. Why do you think so much RNG and multiple slot machines is a good thing for professions?

Think it’s experimentation with “advanced phial experimentation” awarded at 20 that’s the real important one. Which is one of the worst designs in the profession. Completely usless skill points once you have the discoveries.

…stupid question, but have you specced into the skill that lets you discover things that use Decay?
You need 10/50 into Alchemical Theory and then unlocking Decayology.
Stinky blight potion? Only thing I don’t have with a listed specialization requirement. 0 points in decayology
IIRC the discovery specialization combos can require both having the advanced discovery ability and the specialization requirement.
All Potion/Phials that use Decay require speccing into Decayology to discover them.

I’m at 0 Decayology ( but it is unlocked ) and have 3 or 4 items I can make at the decay alter.
That’s what I meant, unlocking it, not necessarily putting a point in lol.

Weird, for me everything fell really fast after I got the “advanced” version of experimentation.
Not sure if the quality of the mats mattered for anything other than the freebe pots and flask you get.
Seems fine procced 3rd time for most.
Friends I very much appreciate the asking if maybe I’m the one doing something wrong but I am absolutely speccd properly. This is not a spec issue, this is a terrible RNG slot machine issue.
Some recipes just refuse to be learned with the basic experiments. You’re just going to have to get the advanced experiments.
Try to do it on Altar of Decay.
I have 2 items needed to be discovered which requires those Decay stuffs. One is Phial of Corrupted Rage. I discovered one of them, unfortunately not the Corrupted Rage on Altar of Decay. Then I ran out of Bottle of Courage. I would do it again on my next Brackenhide run.
So as I stated above I have been doing advanced for multiple months as I unlocked it first and still nothing - this is not a me issue this is a terrible design issue.
What’s your Frost-Formulated Phials skill at?
Actually, Wowhead says you need Decayology unlocked as well.
I’m experiencing this right now… I have all the phials except corrupting rage so there’s nothing else I could possibly learn and I’ve done hundreds of experiments without a discovery and spent hundreds of artisan mettle so I can’t buy the knowledge point books or recipes or crafted profession tools I need them for (no other profession has this issue). I’ve really enjoyed Dragonflight overall, but I’m legitimately about to quit because of this profession design.
I think you have to spec into something to get it, i forget lol… theres like wowhead and all that
Decayology. Spec into and max out decayology. You’ll never learn that phial until you do.
