I am 100% for more diversity in everything, because I believe strongly that representation matters. However, I believe the OP to be bait just based on how it’s worded.

Well to be fair, the medieval fantasy and high fantasy genre has tended to be dominated by white males for many reasons. In WoW, though, there are plenty of skin tone options that run the spectrum as far as I am concerned, and even though culturally we don’t get much in the way of differences due to WoW lore not being that detailed, there are different ethnicity in some ways for humans.

For instance, the Wastewander Bandits and pirates who live in Tanaris seem to follow a much more nomadic, Bedouin lifestyle and even have a Caliph. They also are more dark skinned.

In terms of mainstream humanity, you must recognize that in WoW lore all Humans are descended from the Vrykul – basically Vikings – who were very white. Unlike in reality where most of Europe was overrun either by Romans (who were Mediterranean and had a much greater mix of Arab in them) or those from Spain and such (similar), the genetic stock in WoW is much less diverse.

Thats my attempt at a serious response to an obvious troll post.

Do you really wanna say that Brother Pike looks like a white christian?!

not troll but idk if mods will delete it anyway and i dont wanna get banned again. so i might delete it in 5 mins when i get back.

say sayonara brothers
shout out to my human paladin bros laso taking the hate in this forum

well that is a title

The title appears… provocative.

However, the subject matter of the thread seems like something that has been mentioned and discussed here.

I think the subject makes for a valid discussion but the title might get you in trouble. Change that title to something that does not include IRL politics, races, and religions and you might be OK.

I do not say it violates the Terms of Use, or that a Mod will punish you - but I see people of all sides being offended and reporting it. Which draws Mod attention.

there i just made it safe and boring should be fine
dont wanna get banned b4 the new patch drops i needa discuss all that sylvanas shindigs as they drop. thx for the help.

I want an Afro hair option. Or just an expansion of character creation in general. I like Kul Tirans because you can make them look black and Hispanic

I am Hispanic & my avatar is an average (white?) Paladin, so really who cares?

WoW’s universe is heavily based on Nordic theme, setting & some elements with it along with minor cultural references of Incas to that of Zandalar & Mongolian warlike culture of Orcs.

It’s a fantasy setting, they can do as they please without harm.

It’s people like you that ruins the entity of enjoyment to political correctness, “cultural inclusiveness”. Guess what? White people are as just as diverse in cultural settings like the rest. Take a look at Europe, all nations are far different with different customs regardless of skin tone

PS: it would’ve made sense if you were to say add more customizations & more cosmetics for all races

Honestly, I don’t care if its a pc reason for doing it, but Warcraft does need it players customization options updated.

100% a troll. If you were serious you’d argue for more customization options, not this poorly worded and baity mess.

Warcraft’s customization is pretty dated, but i’m not sure how I feel about completely changing the game so that you can have basically variants of each race that are different sizes and shapes. We already have that in other games, and in most of them they are all basically one model with the main features of the chosen race plastered on top of it.

There are tons of African Ameicans in the game. The real question is where is the transgender representation?

There’s a potion that lets you swap gender at will. In terms of lore mentioning, I’m not sure if it would even come up in a world where someone can be turned into a frog or a sheep, seems like it would be easy enough to change your gender. WoW basically lives in a post-apocalyptic world, with many of the old, typically medieval social structures that would come with that setting pretty much in tatters because it’s more practical to ignore them and survive.

So the only issue with someone swapping gender, at least for WoW humans, would be inheritance of titles… but that doesn’t matter because in WoW, women inherit land and titles the same as the men do, it only matters who the eldest is.

The only time I’ve seen transgenderism explicitly referenced in an MMO was in GW2, via a single minor NPC with some decently written dialogue, but nothing more. And they were a mesmer.

Hey, if someone’s getting an afro, the gnomes better get it first.

I’ve been waiting to see the glory of the gnomefro in action ever since Gnoarn mentioned it in Classic.

I actually agree to an extent. While there is human diversity of skin tone… It is just surface level pandering. There are no major lore characters who are human people of color.

While I do not necessarily think skin tone should determine human culture in fantasy, I think there should be a little more flavor other than generic European fantasy.

Not quite. Calia was older than Arthas, but inheritance of the throne was explicitly always meant for him. Unless there was something I missed somewhere along the line, but I remember clearly from Arthas: Rise of the Lich King that Terenas wanted Calia to marry Daval Prestor for political reasons, whereas Arthas needed to marry someone for the kingdom. Arthas and Calia even talk about their respective duties concerning marriage at some point.

I was referring to WoW, not Warcraft. We’re like, three end of the world attacks since then, most human kingdoms are wiped out. The rules of succession clearly don’t matter anymore.
