Human Warriors Swords or Axes for end game?

So far I am planning on rolling a warrior in classic but don’t quote me on that as it changes every few weeks but I am curious about something and I can’t seem to find a straight answer to it online.

Assuming BiS do human warriors use swords ideally due to their racial or do they still prefer the extra crit from axes?

Twelve year old me never really theory crafted that hard in classic but mid twenties me weirdly wants to know.

Whatever you can get. Good gear is rare. Swords better for pve, less misses.

Right but I am kinda looking at ideal. At least for pre raid.

Not a whole lot of difference.

If you are Fury I think the most common pre-raid BiS swords is the Dal’Rends combo so it would be swords. If you are cashed up it would be Krol Blades for the same. I think Barbarous Blade is best for 2h as well so would be the same.

Auto attacks are the vast majority of your damage, which is why HoJ (a blue trinket from BRD) is BiS forever for virtually every melee, and why Sword spec is so good for Rogues. But you use pretty much the best weapon you can, as Fury is the best DPS spec and you don’t get any weapon specializations. Swords happen to be the BiS in Naxx (IIRC), but there may be a dagger in there too for an offhand.

Unless you’re doing PVP I wouldn’t suggest arms spec.

Some form of fury/prot is best as it has both high dps and easier to tank while leveling and off-tank at 60.

If you are Arms, while leveling and until BiS 2-H Swords drop for you I prefer Axes for all races. With 5/5 Axe Spec in Arms and 5/5 Cruelty in Fury that is 10% crit from talents alone. High quality 2-H Axes are also much more obtainable while leveling and for a fresh 60.

For PVP you only need roughly %6 hit to never miss another player.

With Hand of Justice and a really good 2-H Sword, you will definitely want to respec to 5/5 Sword Spec.

For PVE you’ll want to DW 1-H Swords (or Maces) for meters/optimal output in a raid type setting.

the crafted arcanite reaper axe is most prob easiest to get fast weapon end game as waiting for a epic dungeon drop or raid drop will take along time unless your super lucky.

Maces and swords would be best, especially if you can get sulfuras.

It’s extremely expensive, especially early. In phase 1 there isn’t really going to be better that’s easily attainable (no IBS or BB), but I wouldn’t bother with it. If you’re going for DPS however, pre-BiS is still better as Fury, so there’s no reason to get a 2h.

dam i have some fun reading all these retail noob comment  go play alliance ,you choice your faction because one weapon is better any pride and honor for your faction the horde dont need you, this game will have many phases , and best spec will change ,

Demonshear isn’t a bad replacement, and I would honestly prefer it to Arcanite reaper because sword spec >>>>>>> axe spec.

Hell, even if you’re orc, I’d rather use

There’s simply no place for the arcanite reaper except as a “look at how much MONEY I got” weapon

Just poking this to see if I can get a clear answer on the difference.

You just take whatever is the best weapon you can get your hands on. The racial bonus of weapon skill is like a tiebreaker.

For example Crul’shorukh and Doom’s Edge is gonna be the best combo in BWL, that’s 2 axes. The best combo if you finish naxx is Gressil and Hungering Cold, 2 swords.

Swords, as a human, will make it easier to gear without worrying about hit.
Outside of that, just take what is better just make sure you stack stats based on what you’re using.

If you’re Human, use swords or maces. Once you get into raids, sometimes your BiS is going to be an Axe, even with your racial.

For pre-raid BiS, you should get both Dal’Rend swords.

IMO Swords/maces (Wep Skill+ TPS) for PvE and axes (Arms Crit+ Talent) for PvP.

Also, a tip for my fellow tanks out there - Eskhandar’s Right Claw is a decent TPS weapon and no rogues/furies want it, so have at.
