I think we got hit by the same system about an hour west of Little Rock.
Our power went out around 4am due to a downed tree Saturday morning, and it didn’t come back on until around 4pm. Lucky for us that it was in the upper 50’’s.
It was a bit chilly, but it could’ve been much worse. I think our freezer and fridge food made it through by keeping the doors shut as much as possible. We bought groceries on Friday.

Glad you’re alright. Watching that front on radar with the bright red and magenta lines north to south was not a feel good thing, I had to give it up after 11pm once I got status check ins from a couple of friends in the path. It’s unfortunate it popped off as much devastation as it did, but I was actually expecting even worse.
Regardless of our immense powers to conquer titans and defeat old gods, mother nature can certainly make you feel small and helpless when she gets all angry face.

Black Velvet is one of my all time favorite songs. I never put it together that was a tribute to Elvis. I knew the Black Velvet was a hair dye and a whiskey brand. I’d never thought to look up that it was the dye was his preferred product & that he’s often painted on velvet. Learn somethin’ new everyday!

Back in the day – late '80s to early '90s – there was a local (D/FW) DJ who went by the handle Velvet Elvis. I forget what his real name was. The station might have been 92.5 KZPS, although I might be mis-remembering that, too.

The song’s lyrics totally allude to it, I just for some reason never connected the dots. Some days I’m perceptive, sometimes I need Captain Obvious to come write me a note in crayon or smack me with the ‘duh’ stick. Like this song.
