Lorewise, what does human prot pallies usually use? Also, is there any example of human protpally npc or notable character in lore and game?
“Hammer of Wrath”
The only Prot paladin notable that I know of in lore, was Bolvar Fordragon. And at that time he used a sword.
Old lore always aim for blunt weapons for paladins and whoever is fighting the undead, my guess is maces are more appropriate. Asgbringer was a sword though:)
I always see pallies as the hammer. Warriors seem like swords ,and DKs axes. This is just how I imagine lore fitting them, but it’s more than likely their class symbols swaying my perception.
He was a warriar
Swords usually look better with the transmogs I use for my human paladin. There aren’t too many lore protection paladins to point at since they all wielded two handed hammers in the RTS. But if I’m thinking about tanking realistically, a sword makes the most sense since you can actually parry with it.
Wrong, Bolvar was a paladin.
Hammers are the go-to for human paladins, both with a shield and as a 2H.
That being said, a sword isn’t out of character.
You can go either way.
“I like, sword. That’s a personal weapon.”

Arthas Menethil was a human pally before becoming a death knight. He used a hammer as a paladin and a sword as a dk. How has no one mentioned this guy? Lol
Yeah a two handed hammer, he was not a prot Pally.
I would say sword 100%. There are too few decent looking 1h hammers and even less transmogs they look good with them as a Paladin, I tried to make it work myself and gave up after a while.
To be fair, they kinda make it ambiguous and interchangeable sometimes for NPCs. Too bad you can’t actually switch between classes on the same character.
