Howdy! I’m trying each of the healing classes on classic to see which fits me best and I was wondering if I would be at a huge disadvantage if I became a Human Priest opposed to a Dwarf Priest.
I love Dwarves, but I just don’t feel like playing one. I’m wondering if not having fear ward will put me at a serious disadvantage.
The only disadvantage you’re really getting here is that you’ll be forced to raid with Paladins instead of Shaman because you choose to roll Human.
The usefulness of Dwarf Priests is incredibly overblown on these forums. You will have 0 issues finding a group as a Human.

I’m a Nelf Priest, low level, still get asked to heal. I turn them down, I’m spec’ing for DPS with PvP in mind, not healing. So I think you’ll be fine as a Human Priest. Now serious raiding groups WILL want some Dwarf Priests for Fear Ward, bear that in mind because you may be left off of some runs when the bosses fear a lot.
I think it’s FAR more important to roll a character that you will enjoy playing than to roll one that is “perfect”. Besides, that 10% human rep bonus is really nice.
I deleted a lvl 15 mage earlier today when I decided that I really, really didn’t like the name I picked for her. I’m a big believer if you’re not having fun that you should do something else with your time.
I think I would like to go enchanting and tailoring too.

Yes, you can keep in mind min-max considerations like fear ward, but at the end of the day you should be playing what speaks to you personally.
Unless you want to be a hypercompetitive bg rank clinber you will be fine with human. They have some useful stuff for world pvp and for pve are better (diplomacy).

You don’t need Fear Ward for anything. Onyxia, Magmadar, and Nefarian can be cleared just fine with stance dancing on the warrior’s part. I don’t remember if anyone else fears.
You’ll be fine regardless of what race you pick.
The theorycrafting is getting out of hand… Has gotten out of hand. It was out of hand back in aught-six too.
Human priest are a tad better for raid healing due to the 5% extra spirit. You only need one dwarf priest in a raid to buff fear ward.
If you are just planning on pvping dwarf priest would be the way to go with with fear ward and stoneform
But honestly you will have no dramas getting into a raid or dungeon whatever race you pick
So play whatever you like
I was human priest in vanilla never had an issue.
The instant full heal was nice. rep bonus is nice. And in pve a quick dot on a stealth rogue thanks to perception was funny.
Only in PVP. For PVE your race is largely irrelevant.
