I like my Velf Hunter, but I went Mechagnome for my mage. So many amazing racials and increased damage and survival.
Until they give Humans some epic beards, Velf Mage > Human Mage

both are solid choices for magus… You can consider VE racial that reduces transmog prices by 50% as well if you enjoy switching transmogs constantly.
dwarf, obviously. gnome is the other good choice. everything else is lesser fantasy
I went Draenei for the extra self-heal which is getting 1 minute reduction cooldown next patch. Also blood red skin for Eredar look with fire magic. I forget what heroice presence does now, it used to be bonus hit chance.
void elf is ‘bis’ for casters, their racial is getting buffed next patch too

Make your mage a Dracthyr you can stay looking like an elf get an extra knock back racial spell plus the racial flight that has you taking off like a super hero.
Mage is the second most iconic class to human after Paladin.
… You know, I think you may be on to something. Make them of the Blueflight… could work. I’ll be putting it under consideration.
Void Elf. Buffed TP, and money discount racials are awesome. I felt no spell pushback is great too, especially when you’re dealing with melee alone. Most people don’t agree with my opinion, but I hate seeing my spells being pushed back, simply because I’m taking melee attacks alone.
