Hi all,
I’ve currently using Claw of the Black Drake as my MH and Vis’kag the Bloodletter as my OH.
I’m just wondering if it would be better to use Vis’kag as my MH, and Dal’Rend’s Tribal Guardian/Mira Song as my OH?
Assuming all of the weapons have Crusader enchanted on it, and I have 9% hit required for the Claw.
Appreciate any advice!
That’s tricky. Vis’kag is a bit better as a Main Hand than Off Hand weapon because it’s proc-based weapon with slow speed. But it’s not by as massive a margin as you might think, because classic has fewer instant attacks for Fury than Retail.
Dal’Rend is definitely not in the running. It has awful stats and is utter garbage unless paired with the Main Hand one for the set bonus. Use Mirah’s Song if you have to choose one of the two.
Comparatively, pairing CBD with Vis’kag gives you 4 strength and .55% crit, as well as roughly 15 higher weapon DPS with the off-hand (which is taxed by the off-hand penalties and thus not as big). At the cost of 3% hit (and .2% reduced miss) and .2% crit, plus less glancing blow damage… for the main hand only.
I’m prot, so I can’t say for sure. But my gut is that the CBD and Vis’kag combo wins out purely from raw damage/stats.

Hi Thrair,
Many thanks for the detailed explanation!
I was hoping CBD MH and Vis’Kag OH would be the current best set up.
However, I read that unarmed weapons does not get the 5% crit from fury talents . Would you happen to know if this is true?
Cheers!
If you mean Cruelty, that’s definitely false. I use Eskhander’s Claw in my main hand and it definitely benefits from Cruelty.

That’s great to hear!
Thanks for your advice Thrair! I’ll be trying out:-
- CBD MH and Vis’Kag OH for BWL; and
- Vis’Kag MH and Mira Song OH for MC.
Will post my observations!
As a human warrior you should always be using a sword in your main hand due to the racial ability of humans for + sword weapons skill. Your white attack will do more dmg, and you need 3 less hit %
Glancing blows do less damage, depending on your weapon skill. Against a target 3 levels higher than you with a weapon skill difference of 15 (against a raid boss when you have 300 weapon skill, for example) glancing blows deal 35% less damage. With +5 weapon skill, this is reduced to 15% less damage. According to the wowwikki formulas , the reduction continues until +8 weapon skill, where it caps at 90% dmg
If you plan to attack a boss using white attacks at all, you should aim to have 305 weapon skill. If you don’t have 305 weapon skill, an item that gets you there is equivalent to another item that gives +3% chance to hit, and it gives glancing blow damage increases on top of that. Glancing blow damage caps at 308 skill, although you’ll only get half benefit from the last point, so I’d consider 307 the soft cap. Unless it turns out that there is a huge benefit to be had with regards to crits, dodge, block and parry, you should never itemize weapon skill over anything else past 305 or 308. Getting to 305 or 308 still only gives +3 to hit.
