Huge RAM/Memory issues since 9.0

Hello,

Since 9.0 my PC has been having huge memory issues where previously there were none (My PC specs are - Ryzen 1700, 16gb RAM, 1080ti). Looking at Task Manager WoW is always flagged as “Very High” memory usage, around 3-4GB. I have also tried with and without any Addons and it seems to make no difference with this issue.

Up until this patch I could have plenty of Chrome tabs in the background to Alt+Tab out to view and never ever had a problem but now that is not possible as they don’t load due to memory issues. WoW itself has also crashed due to memory issues, which is a first as far as I recall. I have also tried DX 12, 11 and 11 legacy and none of those help.

This behavior only started since the patch but I can’t find any resolution. Please look into this and either Hotfix it or tell me what I need to change my end please as it is very frustrating. Thank you.

Sounds like they enabled the “large address aware” flag. This increases available memory limit from 2GB to 4GB in windows .net applications.

This increased ram should improve the game and allow more models textures and shaders to be loaded at a time. I wouldn’t worry.

Thanks for the feedback. It would be interesting to know 100% that this is what it is. It is still a cause for concern however as WoW can crash and I cannot use Chrome really, when previously I never had any issues and I cannot see any real improvements. If this is the case I hope it would be a toggle option.

Something doesn’t look right here Bankaai. Retail is pulling around 3.8 GB ram on my system. Where is all that other Ram going. Try this tool:

You may need to play around with it to figure things out. Let me know

I can confirm my wow client used between 2.GB and 3.8GB system ram when running. So they have the application process for windows to 4GB limit up from 2GB.

This is only for 32 bit programs. WoW dropped 32 bit support when BFA launched.
