Yeah, I had this problem. Only on my Demon Hunter though. It’s not affecting my paladin. Haven’t seen it since like last week during one of the Alliance Assault in Zandalar (SP?)
I’m having the same issues (mount bug, staying in combat after everything is dead, etc), but it happened to me in Western Plaguelands on a level 52 monk (void elf), so it’s not just happening in BfA areas.
I have now experienced this bug on a couple of alts, most recently today. I have reloaded with no addons and was still able to mount up without a visible mount.
Strangely, the issue went away on it’s own 30 minutes later.
Same here, leveling a character and my mount won’t appear, yet I can still get the benefits of using one.
Same deal, invisible mount, stuck in combat, etc. While is isn’t a game breaker, it is certainly very annoying.

Been happening to me too, and it randomly goes away after a while.
Ok, it’s this is starting to be a problem. I just completed a few of the new “invasion” quests in Nazmir. When I went to the sub to do the last part of it and got into the sub, it wouldn’t let me push any of the buttons, and only had me be able to move forward and no other direction. This all happened after I, of course, was experiencing the mounting bug. PLEASE look into this as it’s becoming a huge problem.

Same problem with invisible personal mount, invisible FP mount. Very intermittant, logging no help, Died, corpse walked back to corpse, rezzed, toon was still gray but a Sethrak NPC could see me and started wailing away. Because I was dead all my buttons were gray. After awhile I died again and back to the spirit master. I asked another player if he could see my mount when I was flying and it was invisible to me, they could see it.
Happens for me too. It seems to be random. This has only happened since 8.1 release.
I’ve got this going on right now. It’s been happening for about 30 minutes now. Currently in Voldun doing world quests. All of my mounts are invisible when I try to use them. Mounting up on the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth causes Gnimo and Hakmud to stand in the exact spot of my character, and though I can interact with them the shop/repair option is not working. Just used the flight path from Shatterstone Harbor to Tortaka Refuge and swam through the sky for the entire trip.
I’ve also noticed since the 8.1 patch a lot more of the weird “Backwards” movement for other peoples mounts as well as when people use any of the “shop” mounts that the vendors will just sit in one spot even after the person has left the area.
Edit Just wanted to add the note that completely exiting and then restarting the game seems to fix things.
When it happens to me my character just runs at mount speed, pretty funny IMO
Happens to me on multiple characters with all the ‘features’ listed here: no visible mount, won’t auto-dismount and sometimes won’t at all, no FP mount showing, etc., but the biggest issue for me is that when this happens I can’t turn in quests - the quest giver shows the ? overhead and quest text comes up and acknowledges completion, but when the actual ‘complete quest’ button is up it doesn’t respond to mouse click input and I can’t complete the actual quest.
As mentioned, logging out usually fixes this, and I’ve found /reloadui actually works most of the time too, but I’m actually stuck right now on just one character (other characters are fine - I checked) and even after multiple exit/restarts of the game, I can’t turn in a couple quests I have completed, and it took three restarts to get the mount to show up again (it now shows up, but no quest completion).
Any ideas?
Update to Carbonite Quest module seems to have resolved the issue for me - at least the ‘stuck not being able to turn in quest’ bug - as mentioned the mount issue was already resolved with restarts. Note: I went through disabling all my addons and then enabling one at a time, and that is what sent me to Carbonite forums to check for similar issues - but no mention of the mount issue that I found there. For me, these have been 100% correlated, so I am thinking they are all related to same issue, but will update if I have any recurrence of the mount issue.
Same thing I’ve experienced. Mount speed but no visual mount. Stuff that would normally dismount me like fighting or herbing brings up the error you can’t do that your mounted. Also experiencing the quest lag talked about above where I do the quest, then wait for about 2 mins for it to update as complete.
This problem is becoming more common as time goes on and it would seem the damn Blizz devs are too busy cashing their checks to bother fixing it. If I seem a bit peckish over this its because I am seeing an increasing lack of concern on the part of Blizz to deal with such massive game-impacting glitches. Just look at the lack of a response from any Blizz reps on this discussion.

The lack of response is very disappointing. It happened three times in a row just pootling through tiragarde today. All the quest punctuation and other highlights hang around too long as well. fix SOON!! please.
