I mean from what you said you think all the damage is in aimed shot but theres multiple different builds that crank atm, with honor talent + aspect of the fox and 4 set (in pvp) every trueshot you get a guaranteed 5 mil (in current season gear), with some chances outside of it to just end people. The long cast time on aimed shot just doesn’t exist if you just press rapid fire more.
Every button feels really good to press and the qol on intim with no line of sight and roar currently being usable when your stunned just makes it far more easier to use. My breakdown was always black arrow → aimed → auto shot + heap of dots or it was lunar storm aimed killshot.
Also just got a 1.1million auto shot which felt crazy.
Fwiw, there was the exact same debate/uproar over almost these exact changes in SoD (lone wolf being bis for MM and not using a pet anymore), and how it ended up playing out is that hunters were basically unstoppable killing machines 2 tapping everyone.
I know the games are entirely different (SoD vs retail), but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a similar outcome this time. I also haven’t read the proposed changes completely in depth, so maybe I’m missing something, but in SoD, you could call your pet out whenever still, you would just lose the lone wolf buff. Idk if that’s going to be the compromise here, but it could theoretically add some playstyle depth with strategically calling and dismissing your pet to keep people in combat or whatever (but you’ll also be able to do this with volley because salvo is just getting turned into a passive)
Everyone 2 taps everyone in sod even after the 50% nerf to damage and buff to health, healers are far stronger in retail then sod which is why people die far less.
You do not have access to the skill Call Pet anymore it is replaced by the birds passive so you cant ever bring it out.
But that’s irrlevant. MM has almost always been reliant on killing in burst windows, rather than non stop burst damage. If you want a PVE spec for hunter then you got BM & SV.
These changes generally look like a net positive for the best hunters, and a net positive for the vast majority of PVPers because it allows actual counterplay rather than constantly wondering how long before you randomly lose 60% of your health to the hunter.
I can definently see the complaints from hunters, but overall it looks like it’s just better designed this way. Tuning will obviously affect it, but yeah.
Not to the same degree with all instant casts from 40yd+ away, and if that’s the case, I don’t really like that. I’d be fine if you take a damage debuff for calling out your pet, but the option should still be there
They getting massive flares in 11.1. Prob worth testing to see if you can sit in middle of those 50% larger flares and pop rogues out before they can sap you.
