A banned player isn’t buying a $90 mount in the cash shop. You think Blizz gives a damn about Classic? It’s NOTHING in the scheme of things to them. And its playerbase pales in comparison to Retail’s. Do people not realize that?
Classic accounts for pennies in their profits. And that’s just at Blizzard. Go to the parent company and it’s worth far less in the grand scheme of things. Blizz has decided its not worth the investment to hire GMs to police the game, and certainly not to ban players. Players that quite likely also play Retail…which they do care about. And guess what: gold buyers are the ones buying those mounts.
They don’t care about the experience. They don’t care about the integrity of the game. They don’t care about ‘normal players’ who just want to sub and play. They want those whales. The game is just a way to pull in potential whales who spend their money in the cash shop. That’s why WoW exists now.
Ultra stupid idea. You’d be punishing real players. In 2019 Classic hunter DMT solo runs was how I made most of my gold. I had over a thousand runs according to DBM. If I was playing fresh I’d probably use that as my primary means of gold making and I’d be extremely irritated if they nerfed it because of bots.
And besides all that nerfing the vendor price wouldn’t matter. Most of those items you disenchant and sell the enchanting mats.
I mean there is a fresh version that is nearly exactly our game, it would be strange to think Era players wouldn’t play fresh.
But fresh will end soon as people hit rank 14 and core raiders get their bwl items.
From that point Era will again grow and grow each week as more people start to leave fresh because doing AQ40 and especially naxx with TBC looming over is basically just play 24/7, buy gold, or just do it on Era without crazy time pressure.
And then tbc is just scam so all the vanilla players will be back on Era and we will prob get like a few thousand new players than before because they will realize how bad tbc actually is this time.
