I have a pretty decent PC (AMD 7950X tuned/undervolt, 32 Gb DDR5 6000 on an ASUS x670e Crosshair Hero, NVIDIA RTX 4090 OC, 2x Samsung 990 Pro M.2 Nvme drives), playing on a 2k ultrawide monitor. Before patch 11.2, I was doing dungeons fine at about 120 - 140 FPS, and Raids at about 90 - 100 FPS. I don’t use any anti-aliasing, no ray tracing, nothing fancy (shadows low, liquid low, no compute effects, etc). All I care is maximizing my FPS.
Ever since 11.2 launched, my FPS has gone down drastically. I am getting around 60 FPS in dungeons and 30 FPS in the Manaforge Omega raid. I did not change any graphics settings or updated any drivers.
I have looked around the forums, and I have tried a series of things, and nothing has seemed to work out:
- I have updated my NVIDIA drivers
- I have turned off the option for “Optional GPU Features”
- I have tried switching between DX 12 and DX 11
- I’ve made sure I selected my GPU and did not leave it on “auto”
- I constantly update my UI (ElvUI) and addons, and I do not get any erros saying my add-ons are outdated.
However, nothing has seemed to work.
What can I do? Raiding at 30 FPS is horrible!

And you’ve tested without ElvUI? Unfortunately, addons are a top cause of fps issues, even if they are updated.

Having the same issue all the sudden today. No issues yesterday. I even rolled back my driver update I did last night. Nothing is helping. 30 max FPS when I was easily over 60 plus before. Disabled all my addons etc. But last night game was working fine even after the graphics update. Doesn’t seem affect any other games I load up either. Just WoW.

Hi. I went into the Addon menu and disabled all of them, and reloaded the UI. FPS went up about 5 - 6 only, not much more.
Disabling addons doesn’t really do anything other than remove their visual elements.
Back up your folders and do a UI reset. Then see if the fps problem persists.

I cut the “Interface” folder and moved it to a different drive, then logged into the game. No FPS change, still around 1-2 from what I have with all the addons enabled

It’s not an addon problem it is a developer problem. I too am having terrible fps in raid and dungeons with a 4090 and a 13900k 64 gb of ram. No excuse for it and it started for all of us after patch 11.2. you guys bungled something in the code that is causing this because it doesnt matter if all addons are removed or not. dropping as low as 16fps with my hardware is beyond absurd and I have tried every possible solution. Again this NEVER happened until 11.2 dropped

What you’re explaining could be a driver incompatibility with the new patch. GPU drivers are made for games, not the other way around.
But I had not updated my NVIDIA drivers prior to the game patch or after it. I only updated it as I was trying to troubleshoot.
Is there a recommended NVIDIA driver version for WoW for my RTX 4090?
I run other heavy games, including in VR, and have zero problems.

I got the exact same problem playing on a 5070 / 7900X3D 32GB DDR5 system at 3440x1440, I get huge FPS drops and stutters randomly and it causes my fans to start spinning faster. As far as I can tell nothing else on the system is using up resources so it’s something wrong with the game.

My situation seems to be even worst. I’m stuttering at 4-10 fps.
Here are some things that I have tried which did not work:
Using clean install and removing old driver then Rerolling Nvidia drivers to 522.25 (very first 4090 driver), also tried 576.88 as suggested by community
Changing ingame settings to 4090 GPU
Optimizing settings using Nvidia app
Making sure ingame fps settings has not changed
Changing from Direct X 12 to 11, also tried auto settings
Completely uninstalled Wow and re-installing
Completely removing mod folder
Testing other games: WoW Classic, Diablo 4, Battlefield 6 Beta, Inzoi, and much more, all at max settings with no issues.
So far nothing has worked. I am hoping a future patch will fix my issues or if you have any other suggestions to recommend that I could try. I submitted a ticket and got a reply basically saying to ask community for help…
Are there anymore rooms for tech support hiring? I’d like to sit on my butt all day doing nothing and get paid telling people to find help elsewhere.
MY PC Specs:
Processor: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-13700K 3.40 GHz
RAM: 64 GB
GPU: Nvidia 4090 RTX

Blizzard no longer provides direct technical support, and many in the department have either departed the company or moved to other departments. I feel this was public info, from the beginning of 2024. It was always a courtesy from the beginning. Much of it was moved to the support pages. Primarily starting at this page.
I’ve been having this same issue; I didn’t have it in previous updates. And there’s no solution in sight.
I’ve removed all my addons, and even then, the FPS randomly drops from 60 to 15 or even 7 FPS.
My specs:
11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU
Windows 11
RAM 16 gb
Note1: I’ve already tried lowering the settings to the minimum possible with no improvement. I’ve deleted all my addons, updated my GPU driver, uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game, and also tried switching from DirectX 12 to 11 and toggling the infamous Optional GPU Features.
And nothing…
My laptop is supposed to meet the requirements, and the d*mN game still doesn’t work properly. What am I supposed to do?
Note 2: I also checked the temperature—using a cooling pad it stays pretty decent, and I have no issues with other games.

Is there any sort of hotfix in the works for some near patching? Raiding is horrible like this!

Try opening the blizzard launcher in admin mode. After weeks of trying everything this finally fixed the stuttering for me. Why this works is beyond me.

same here, game is unplayable. I’ve unsubscribed untill it is fixed.
It’s absurd that I can run stuff like RE:8 on ultra settings with absolutely no issue, but mana forge omega on minimum settings with all optional GPU settings disabled gets me 4fps on some fights. We shouldn’t have to do all this extra work to play the game on top tier modern systems and have it work. Blizzard dropped the ball hard on optimization here. Probably because they scrapped the original storyline and pumped out the karesh content as fast as they could without doing proper optimization.

For which version of WoW? The CPU listed here doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for Modern WoW.
Same issues here. Massive graphics issues since 11.2, and Im on a high end PC.

Saw this video today, will try this out later to see if it fixes the problem:
