Hug a Windwalker

I called it out weeks ago when people were upset (rightly so) about Shadow Priest.

WW Monk at high levels of content is doing poor DPS. Every single class has a DPS spec that performs better than it in raid. This is not ok.

Why this is an issue:

  • We scales well in low level raids when everyone is gearing up. WW was top 8 in normal and middle of the pack.

  • This was clearly too strong so we copped a nerf to our strike of the windlord talents.

Before the changes we were 4th from last in damage and 8th from last in terms of ā€˜overall’.

Big issue is there is a zero sell at the moment for a WW monk wanting to push for anything higher than heroic.

Why does it matter for players who only prog for AoTC or just do normal?
As we gear higher and our damage scales relatively lower in comparison we won’t get invites unless we are already established.
I know I’m set as a DPS for my Aussie guild and a DPS/fill for my US one but I don’t want new monks to be in a tough spot when the class is probably one of the best spots (playstyle wise) it’s been in for a long time.

replies being like but monks are pumping. Yep week 3 normal raid maybe. Lack of understanding the bigger picture.

I only hug vulpera monks.

idk, at 614 ilvl i’m usually top 5 in my heroic raid group on my WW. That’s good enough for me. It’s a fun class to play after being ranged in that raid group for the last several seasons.

Plays tiny violin.

From a personal standpoint I will usually also be in the top 3 for Depraved intent and top 5 for Brainrot (when I DPS). I’m putting aside my own ability to perform and actually seeing how it’s like.

Then you can probably see the issue - as more of the group gets gear, yours and mine will be less effective at giving us damage.

Then perhaps your group will start progressing on the first couple of Mythic bosses. It won’t feel good to know you are getting relatively weaker as you all gear up.
I guess a silver lining of vers still being a good stat makes Mandate work marginally better for us than most classes.

Say no to hugs.

Hugs are evil!

Sorry, Shaman is ahead of the pack in all 3 of its specs for the first time in forever, I can’t encourage Blizzard to touch balancing while we’re like this.

i wish my groups would progress into mythic raiding sometimes. but not all of the people are competent enough for that. in one group we have a lock that always ends up on the floor during almost every fight.

I mean, it is though. Someone has to be bottom spec, windwalker being that at the moment is no less acceptable than any other.

huggles!

Unfortunately someone has to be at the bottom, unavoidable reality of such a game.

If a class has 3 DPS specs. I can kinda understand if one was the absolute bottom.

For hybrid classes they need to keep an eye out on the tuning of the one DPS spec they have.
E.G Retribution Paladins have eaten super well the last few years.

I started leveling my WW last night. Celestials hero. It’s tremendous fun and hits like a truck so far. It will be interesting to see how it goes. So far their kit seems like it will lend itself very well to delves.

I do have to celebrate :champagne: Shamans getting a break. I know that for a long time Shamans and Monks communities were essentially the ā€˜I love this class but I hate how they treat it’ kinds groups.

At the end of the day. I’m still gonna play a Monk regardless of tuning. This post is made largely to hopefully get some eyes on it.

I’m glad to see you joining the WW gang! Celestials from a personal enjoyment perspective I love the most. I think if I get a trinket that aligns with it I will try it out also.

yes i agree buff affliction

Thankfully they are getting better with the anniversary event on Oct 22nd:

  • Windwalker
    • Blackout Kick’s damage increased by 20%.
    • Flurry of Xuen damage increased by 40%.
    • Fixed an issue that caused Courageous Impulse to incorrectly buff the damage of Blackout Kick by more than intended when multiple stacks are active.
    • Fixed an issue that caused Courageous Impulse to incorrectly buff Teachings of the Monastery Blackout Kicks.

Wait why was everyone upset about shadow? Did they get nerfed again?

I wish I could be happy about that.
The first buff is to compensate for the loss in damage from the last two debuffs through correction.

Flurry of Xuen is almost never taken and won’t be taken over 5% damage unless it’s super short encounters (heavy minor add cleave).

They were super undertuned and struggling in a similar way.
