HUD reset and preset deleted

After today’s update I logged in to find my Hud has been completely reset to the default modern one that they rolled out and my preset that I had created deleted as well. I am running Bartender but Bartender was left unaffected.

I logged on today to the exact same thing. I made multiple presets and not a single was saved…

Same thing happened to me, logged in, everything was fine, world server went down for a minute, logged back in my preset was gone :frowning:

That was weird, i logged on 15 minutes ago and HUD was ok, then got disconnected, went back in and my ui was all reset to default and all my presets gone…oh god…took my days to get them done XD

Ugh same here, was in my garrison and logged in kicked out of the garrison and my setup gone and the profile deleted.

Same thing happened here, on Retail. Made an evoker, my customized UI was there. Logged out, logged back in- gone, deleted.

Same. My preset is gone. I spent so much time on it :frowning:

This is apparently what we’re doing each patch. Just resetting all your saved UIs.

Expect it to be lost again without a single blizzard comment on 11/28

Yep, logged in and it was there. Totally fine. Logged out, came back, preset completely gone and on the default settings. I spent hours getting that just the way I wanted it.

I should know better by now, not to play this forsaken game within 48 hours of any content launch. What a joke.

Someone on reddit said this worked for him:

  1. Navigate to <WoW install directory>\World Of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF\Account\<Account ID>
  2. An easy way to navigate to this directory: While on the World of Warcraft tab in the Battle.net launcher, click on the cog icon next to the Play button and choose Show in Explorer
  3. Delete edit-mode-cache-account.txt
  4. Rename edit-mode-cache-account.old to edit-mode-cache-account.txt
  5. Easily done with File name extensions enabled
  6. Accept the Rename warning (in this situation, it poses no risk)
  7. Log in and select your previously available preset(s)!

It did not work for me. :frowning:

Can someone at blizzard please tell us if this was a normal behavior with this new patch or not, and if they can fix this or not, i don’t know, a rollback or something. Would be good to know to plan what to do. To be honest i don’t feel like setting up my UI again all across my toons for now.

Yeah I’m just not gonna play today. I don’t have the energy to redo my UI. It took so long to tweak it just right. I really hope this can be fixed. Being able to instantly set up my UI on new characters was such a huge draw for me.

Glad it worked for you! I’m guessing it overwrote my .old file when I logged in. It didn’t help me at all :frowning:

Nothing. My presets still weren’t there in game.

Well i kinda fixed it, i forgot i had a WTF folder backup i used to copy setting on my computer at home, its a few weeks old but its only missing a few tweaks. At least i don’t have to go thru the whole process again.
Try to always save your WTF folder somewhere guys, can be a lifesaver.
Just copy/pasted edit-mode-cache-account.old and edit-mode-cache-account.txt files. All i did.

Yeah I wish I had done that. I’m really hoping blizzard has some sort of backup on their end they can fix this with.
