Sockets are still tied to the token vendors.
Considering heroic and timewalking dungeons count towards completion of slots, you can basically AFK for your weekly. Or if you really hate people, most of us can solo heroic dungeons mid season as is, which is when you’d be looking for the sockets anyway.
