Hpal Arena Advice Pls

Getting rolled over pretty bad today in 1500 bracket (main is 1960) looking for advice on some situations. Please, any advice on 1 or two questions is helpful.

  1. Team mate gets bursted in opener, I drop sac when he’s at 10% try to spam heal I get kicked or cc’d, sac will sometimes break but cant heal when I’m kicked. Kick wears off damage is rolling onto me I get targeted and die.

  2. Does Hpal have strong azurite traits? they kinda seem like garbage.

  3. Is there a tactic to healing myself up after my sac target takes obnoxious damage?

  4. Any special pvp talents for certain fights? purity for rogue poisons? anything for bubble breakers? and vs bubble purging what am I using bubble for now?

  5. What’s the best rotation to slam when I’m targeted for burst? Like an RMP opener on me?

  6. Whats the best anti-cc tactic? on Rsham I could ground or shear, I feel like half the time on Hpal I try and run behind pillar its too late to avoid. Use Steed?

Thanks for the time to read/answer any or all of these trying to improve my skill and have fun.

Welcome to HPal!

Contrary to popular belief, HPal actually requires a lot of skill in arena because like you said - we don’t have anything to stop CC apart from sac, now grounding/sheer/shapeshift/port/prem.
LOS is really all we have, and in the current meta the damage output is too high to LoS for too long.

As for 1: Use other Cooldowns before sac - don’t sac before you holy shock / IoL heal - you could be wasting a sac, as that could’ve been all the burst.

2: Traits aren’t anywhere as strong as a shamans etc, personally i like to focus on the inner rings as they provide more defensive traits (azerite heals), the only one i would say is mandatory is the breaking dawn trait (40 yard range on light of dawn).

3: Sometimes it’s worth swapping beacon to yourself for those periods to help keep both of you up, though apart from directed heals there’s no special tactic.

4: Only pure of heart vs rogues and I only use that in 2v2, not worth it in 3s. As for ‘bubble breakers’ i presume you mean mass dispel? I like to steer away from location after bubbling.

5: RMP openers on you are rough, I’ve actually found after popping wall / holy shock i have been freedoming and steeding around a pillar, as standing there trying to heal just isn’t going to work with the damage output. Positioning is key.

6: i answered this at the start lol sorry!

Light of Dawn? The instant aoe heal? I don’t think I’ve used it once, is it strong, Is it worthwhile and when should I be using it?

Definitely should be used, instant cast on the move and heals for anywhere between 7-15 k

Excellent advice, also thinking about holy light, ive been using flash heal over it on procs which now I realize is wasting good heal power. Good advice my dude, I appreciate you taking the time.

You’re more than welcome mate, feel free to add me on bnet joey#14849 happy to help any time, could also queue with you on my mage to help out!

In 3s I am really struggling to dodge interrupts AND heal through burst.
A single kick will often end it. And I can’t lotm to heal myself.

What talents are you running? Do you change them depending on who you’re up against?
What talents do you run with against double casters or double melee? Do you change your PvP talents?
What PvP talents are you running?
Which trinkets are you using?

Do you plan on using voice comms?

Fake casting is something that needs to be mastered as a paladin in arena, shamans still have hots/riptides, priests have 2 schools, monks have auramastery/hots, druids can shift. Paladins have nothing, it’s pretty rough but once you master it when you play other classes you’ll be a god.

#1 After sac I just run behind a pillar wayyyyy out of range and top myself off. Your teammate will live for the next 12 seconds. I also generally pop wings around that point if I have to ‘oh crap sac’

Also only use melee wings against AOE casters and rogues. You are nerfing your big burst healing too much and probably dying.

#2 Azerite traits? Who cares. Unless you can get the uldir gear with the reorigination array and get +480 intellect with two of them it doesn’t really matter.

#5 is the real problem.
There is no simple solution. You can try using blinding light. When the rogue stuns you first, trinket it, hoj him get his trinket then blinding light. You should be running melee wings with pure of heart. Alternatively if you want to instead of trinketing you can bop yourself out of stun, but there’s a good chance the mage will spellsteal it and you’ll die, so use bop > wings > hs > holy avenger (just everything) after that. If you bubble, you’re basically just gonna take the L. It is mostly up to your teammates. If you have a warlock… ITS EASY. Just trinket and gate. Otherwise just have your teammates CC the rogue.

TLDR; trinket stun the rogue and steed los of mage and pop melee wings and heal yourself. Also use shield wall when he opens. When you trinket if the rogues smart he’ll blind you and swap… you can always bop out of it. It’s okay.
