Hello you dark, hunters of demons!
I’m looking to switch to a new class to tank with. Been loving prot warrior for several seasons but they are getting some terrible rage generation nerfs that will probably render them zero fun to play.
So I’m shopping for a new tank class!
How do you guys feel about the state of Vengeance moving into season 2?
I’ve always admired the aesthetics of demon hunters. The speed and mobility seem like a natural to transition from warrior to.
Any general pros and cons you guys suggest I consider?
Thanks, happy demon hunting
There is no way to make any prediction regarding tank balancing. Theres like a good two months before patch release so so many things is subject to change
An extra 2 seconds on Demon Spikes is a big deal and I’m really excited about it. The set bonus is giving us Demon Form more often which means more damage and defense. I’ll always play Vengeance because I love the play style.
The main difference is we are much less sturdy than Prot Warriors. If you don’t cycle defensives properly you will flop if you don’t kite here and there. It’ll also depend on the level of keys you’re doing but we get hit VERY hard without mitigation. There’s a lot of interactions to study.
The play style isn’t any different than this season so I’d suggest trying it now to help you make your decision.

you shouldnt be kiting on any level of key. you have to play your cds as you said and utlize your damage windows. since vdh is a leech tank, your damaging = healing and mitigation.
but yes the 2 extra seconds on demonspikes is very nice but it kinda makes ftd and last resort kinda lackluster. i feel like they should change the middle second of the tree.

Everybody loves demon brand.
I watch the number 1 VDH in the world Alfamyscars quite a bit and he kites occasionally. All I’m saying is once in a while it can be needed at very high key levels.
Respectfully, its not looking much better than it was in S1. In short, don’t play VDH.
Hard to predict, but the random Metamorphosis procs from the 2-set remind me of the heart of Azeroth ability from BFA.
It was a decent ability. Not game-breaking, and kinda frustrating due to the RNG, but also quite powerful at times. If it allows us to proc demonsurge each time then it could be a significant damage increase.
It all comes down to frequency, specifics, and tuning.
I actually agree with this. You shouldn’t have to kite.
The reality, however, is that you’re going to need to kite any time you see a window of vulnerability coming up either due to your own CD mismanagement, healer CD mismanagement, or other factors. I despise kiting on principle but it is extremely effective.

Right now it is hard to tell how DHs are looking, so many key things you would want to test are either broken or bugged.
