How's Ret Paladin in PVE in Cataclysm?

I am thinking about playing Cata but all I have is a level 80 Ret.

Are they any good in Cata?

I completely forgot how to play my Ret lol.

It doesn’t matter that you don’t know how to play it cause it gets completely redesigned in Cata anyway. All paladins get the holy power mechanic so Ret plays more or less like it does in retail, albeit with only a max of 3 holy power rather than 5.

As for whether or not they do competitive dps, I couldn’t tell you.

Also, outside of a set bonus, only Crusader Strike generates Holy Power, unlike Retail where almost all your abilities generate it. So it’s much slower than Retail in terms of the build:spend ratio.
