I left WoW for several months near the end of WoD because, you know, WoD. So I never did the docks until a few months ago. I knew the Captain title would take quite awhile but I’m starting to think I’m never going to get it at this rate.
I have most parts of Master of the Seas https://www.wowhead.com/achievement=10164/master-of-the-seas done but still need Siege Expert and Bonus expert. Not worried about Siege Expert. Almost done with that. It’s Bonus expert. I rarely ever get a bonus mission, and every time I do it has at least one Expert Captain debuff so I can’t get it to 100%. And I swear to god, if I don’t get 100% on a bonus mission they always fail. 89%? Fail. 97%? Fail. If it’s not 100% it always, always fails.
So, like, if bonus missions are super rare and I can’t get to 100% success chance, and anything under 100% chance always fails how am I ever going to get the Captain title? How long did it take you guys? I’ve been at this multile times a day for nearly three months now and I’m still only on Bonus Specialist. Haven’t even started on Bonus Expert yet.

I wish I could remember. It took … a month? Two? You have to keep the missions churning. It’s not a giant time commitment but it does require you to send boats out on the daily. And rebuild ‘em when they get sunk.
I’ve had naval quests sitting in my log for ages, 85% complete. I sometimes get the urge to finish them and work towards the title, so I hearth to my garrison and run down to the docks, but then I remember the missions require oil and lose my will and teleport back to Boralus.

A note as well, if you have a mage tower and pump ogre waystones into it for mission completion orders… those work on shipyard missions.
Also ships do not sink on 90%+ missions.
WoD was so long ago, (to me) that I honestly forget.
I just remember having the, “Master Plan,” addon that always optimised the mission load outs for me.
Its funny how quickly these things go when the content it current, and how slowly they go when it’s not.
Bonuses show up more if you keep doing missions? I’d stopped doing the mission types I no longer need for the title.
Once you get your perfect fleet going, it’s pretty simple, but finding the balance is rough to start.
Yeah, you can clear existing missions out to get new chances at bonus ones. The missions reset on a rather slow timer on their own.

Dude it took me a loooong time, maybe 3 months or more?

I don’t remember if that’s specifically true or not. But it would make sense if it were. Every new one that appears is another roll of the dice. The faster they churn, it seems like the faster one would show up.
But that was two expansions ago and my memory might be playing tricks on me.
