How you find out a player's alts?

I was just wondering if it’s possible for me to see whose a player’s alts may be? Also, how do you keep your alts safe (if possible) from being disclosed?

TY!

It depends on the person, their in-game activity, and the way they use their alts. The only reliable method I am aware of is going through raider io. If you are registered there and have your capped alts listed, they will show up as an alt of your main.

For example, if you look up an alliance rogue named Flaash on Icecrown…

As you can see from that page, this rogue is one of my alts. It says so just below the portrait in the ‘about’ line. However, this does not work both ways. If you look at my main’s page it will not list my alts.

In short, it depends on what info you have provided to raider io. If you haven’t signed up or have things set to private you should have nothing to worry about.

in Game or on the forums?
In game if you have them on your bnet friends list you can see which alt they are on.
On the forums only way to tell is if they tell you or you figure it out.

It isnt.

It’s not that hard to figure out a person’s probable alts such if you keep all your toons in a single guild or if they have simply listed as alts with their raider io or in other places.

You can avoid some of that by keeping that information more private, having your toons spread out over several guilds (or guildless), not having your information listed on various pages, not have any profiles that might list your alts, etc.

wowprogress now that guildox is gone or raider io. Look for privacy settings (I don’t think wowprog has them)

long long ago, the mobile armory app used to allow me to bookmark characters. i used it to bookmark alts of players i knew personally, but when that feature was yoinked i lost track of those alts, especially after the character services promo back in 2013 that sparked a lot of transfers

So you want to find out how to find other people’s alt but you want to keep your own safe ? This thread seems counterproductive because the more people know about finding others alts, the less ‘safe’ your own are from disclosure.

they do have privacy - you can delist

It’s hard if the player knows what they’re doing and go the extra mile to keep them hidden. Like someone already mentioned if you have battle.net friends then you can’t hide unless you go “offline” in the battle.net launcher. A lot of people to do this when leveling on alts they don’t want other people to know about.

Since I basically only have alts I don’t really care that people know about them, but I’d prefer they didn’t. A little bit of that good ol’ privacy I guess. I only have a couple of “friends” on battle.net these days. I find it much harder to make friends these days in this game than ever before.

Nice, it’s been awhile since I’ve been on that site so I wasn’t sure

I have been on there for awhile either but you used to be able to register and delist yourself and mine still don’t show up so I doubt they changed that

Why what you got to hide?

Only way to know for sure is if they tell you or you have them on bnet friends.

In game. I get it.
Role playing, different classes, immersion, and what not.
It should be that way.

On the forums the only real use for 50 avatar alts is trolling and derailing discussion though.
On here since they have made it so every avatar has its own rep level and post count it’s harder to discern people switching alts.
Unless they tell you. Some do.

With the old forums post count, achievements, and the way people post could elude to posters using alts.
Which makes it kind of useless.

This is supposed to be a communication tool for player feedback.
Instead its a breeding ground for trolls.

Then again blizz doesn’t seem to much care anymore anyways.
Have a look at some blues forum statistics to give you an idea how much they read these forums.
Unless ofc they mostly participate on their alts. /shrug
Who really knows? LOL GG

Wowtrack was pretty good a this, but it shut down this year. Guildox was good at it too, but they shut down as well and WoWprogress doesn’t seem to show alts by default.

Not sure there is a way to do it. Not everyone is as considerate as me (toot toot) and name all but one potato.

What foul necromancy is this? Resurrecting a nearly five month old thread about Alts and how to track and hide them? Preposterous!
