There’s a reason this class is the worst hell in WoW.

Cope.

Everyone who has rotted here in this class over the expansions has looked up to the meta-light and imagined climbing to leetness. So easy, so simple? And like shipwrecked men turning to sea water from uncontrollable thirst, many have failed trying. I learned in this class that there can be no true despair without cope. So, as I terrorize Stormwind City once again in Classic, I will feed the other non-ganking Hunters copium to poison their souls. I will let them believe they can be taken to raids and M+ so that we can watch them clambering over each other to stay in the orange-parsing sun. You can watch me torture an entire city and faction, and when you have truly understood the depth of their failure, we will fulfill Ion Hazzikostas’ destiny. We will destroy the Alliance and then, when it is done and SW is…ashes…then they have my permission to quit.

I’ve played Warcraft since Orcs & Humans. Stood in line at Gamestop for the Collectors Edition of WoW, Hell I even beta tested Vanilla WoW way back. Needless to say I love WoW and the story. I’ve made friends in game and lost many to attrition, age, cancer and so on.

My first toon was a Hunter, yes she was a Night Elf. Played through BC, I quit for half of it. Returned for Lich King and have played ever since.

Hunter is home to me. It’s what I do, love and have fun with.

I’ve now stopped playing except for special events and to mess around with my many alts.
Gotta fill that trade post bar and get easy transmogs/mounts.

I play Fallout 4 now, moded of course.

Blizzards straight disdain and abandonment of Hunters is what finally broke me free of WoW.

I’ll still play off and on, but I can’t bring myself to main another class. I shouldn’t have to.

Maybe if Hunters get the love and rework, we so desperately need.

It would have to be a complete rebuild.

MM is devastatingly boring. Yes, I can hit relatively hard and crit often. The rotation, skills, spell effects and over feel is terribly dull. I’d love to see a return of Readiness from Vanilla. Instant reset on hunter abilities and had a three minute timer. This made for a wicked hero moment every three minutes. To be blunt, MM Hunters don’t offer anything that make them a must bring, or even a should bring.

Survival is okay, it’s bursty and great for PVE. Nobody takes it seriously though. Playing with bombs is always fun, but that’s about it.

Beastmaster, feels more like being a dog walker who happens to carry a ranged weapon. Pets don’t do nearly enough damage.

Guess I had to rant a little. Are there any Hunters out there who feel the same?

I dare Blizzard to respond to this. If only to see if they still give a damn.

Just curious, is all the doom and gloom in regards to how the specs feel in rated arenas or high end m+ raiding?

I see a lot of negativity about hunters here on the forums but see a lot of successful hunters in rated arenas in-game.

I think that goes for any serious WoW player. WoW can wreck the nerves, and especially for classes like Hunter. So Hunters of all classes have to be the most sober, the most on-the-level. This is not a class you can play under the influence.

In general, for me, but I can see why it would be a problem in upper tier content. A game is meant to be fun. When the thing you love about the game becomes a chore or dull, the fun is gone. Don’t get me wrong other classes are fun too. I simply don’t enjoy them or do so rarely. Frost mage is okay, there’s something about ramming a giant ice spear through your enemies. MM Hunters don’t really get those fun little moments. Rapid fire is okay, but feels generic. I’d rather have something akin to a Headshot or a away to enchant arrows and bullets with arcane, frost, fire.

I’m still having fun. I’ve never been able to put the time in the game to do much more than running old school dungeons and raids with my husband, so it’s only a problem when quests are attached to running them. There’s plenty of other content for me to work, and pets and mounts to collect, achievements to earn.

My Warcraft journey started with Reign of Chaos, WC3, which eventually turned into WoW in 2005(EU player here). While my focus, while playing the game, has been raiding, and in later expansions, a bit of M+, I generally focus on the base design of the class, not necessarily aimed at a specific area of the game/type of content.

To me, the class have felt “abandoned” by the devs, for a lack of a better word, in later expansions. It feels like any work done on the class isn’t by a dev who has a passion for, and is dedicated to truly invest into the fantasy and the overarching theme of the class. Note that I’m not really talking balancing, or numbers here.

In short, it feels as if they throw anything remotely pet related at BM(and really only that), while anything associated with ranged weapon combat gets put into MM, regardless of whether it has anything to do with the fantasy of MM in its core or not, much because they really don’t grasp the concept of how ranged weapons can be used, and how to pursue different themes through separate spec options, which are based on the use of said ranged weapon.

About Survival, not really much else to say other than how, like the devs have said themselves, it(the melee rework) was made for an audience outside of the hunter class. It wasn’t made for the majority of the hunter class, on a fundamental level, as it was around the WoD era, and prior.

Our actual talent trees, which we saw with the DF rework, they kinda got left in the early beta stage of development, in some ways even late alpha. Any work done to them afterwards was basically about shuffling things around while making minor changes, despite how more needed to be done, and added, in order for them to feel appropriate/finished.

I understand the frustration of players that push higher content. It must be maddening.

However, I just play for fun and with friends and I can effectively do the content I enjoy. I can also solo lots of things when my friends aren’t on.

Between mount and achievement hunting and professions on Alts, there is no need for “Cope” as I am still enjoying myself on a daily basis.

I hope they ultimately find someone both passionate and competent to make some the changes that hunters need for those of you that are much more skilled than I am.

Tier Lists will always be the bane of hunters. Even if they are S tier, puggers consider anyone under 3K io a FOTM reroller and they don’t understand the class (i.e BM Hutner BFA S3/4 and Surv Hunter SL S3/4).

I am just a smooth brain tank but I have always had a special spot for Hunter. It was my first raiding and pvp class back in Vanilla so I always try to play it a little bit each season. This has been the worst M+ for me to try and play my Hunter. I have attempted to dedicate some time to gear up a few times but I get frustrated sitting in LFG getting spam declined for 11s to farm and when I do get in a group and the tank is a hot mess of bad I simply do not enjoy the run.

This expansion I show great respect to any healer or hunter that gets themselves geared and does 20’s+ via pugging. You have put in some work.

I’ll keep this short.

Trueshot is the least fun major cooldown to press in the game, and Double Tap was the only fun button MM had.

personally i’m doing fine: i stopped logging in for anything other than my guildies’ craft orders and i spent this season playing first tears of the kingdom and now baldur’s gate. turns out it’s a lot more fun playing a game where your performance isn’t at the whims of an awol balance team! will i come back for season 3? idk, will hunters get a dedicated dev? only time will tell. :+1:

I came from evoker and warlock back to hunter, ashamed to say I like my hunter more again.
Maybe we’ll get something in season 3

I also have stopped playing. I pop in only a couple times per month, but I am not raiding or doing M+. I hate what they have done to hunters.

I am having fun with other games. Baldur’s Gate 3 is amazing. My ranger is great!

Torn. On one hand I love my Hunter because of everything I’ve done on him. On the other, I’m interested in seeing if there will be any class changes with tomorrow’s preview. Might sway me to hang it up and level something new for 10.2.
