How would you like them to handle 60+

  • All servers move on to BC
  • Create new BC servers and allow people to transfer off Classic servers to the new BC servers but maintain Classic servers as Classic only
  • Don’t do 60+

Retail already has 60+ though

That one.

If they did the third, I’d be disappointed but keep playing. if they did the first, I’d quit.

I’m going with option B

I think it’s fully reasonable to have new BC servers open up and upon being 58 (the level needed to walk through the dark portal) you can transfer with an in game service.

upon logging in you are in Blasted lands during the opening event if you do this on launch day

The 200 IQ move would be to allow character copies to new TBC servers and leave Classic servers as is. That gives people a stake in both and makes them extra sticky. It doesn’t dilute the playerbase as much because people who go on to TBC can still come back, whereas moving their characters entirely means they’d have to reroll making it less likely they’d return. It doesn’t mess with people like myself who never want to play content beyond level 60 or be on a raised level cap server. It’s the best option.

I’d want separate BC servers for sure. I actually really like the idea of choosing which expansion you play in.

I can’t say I really cared much for BC, though. The leveling experience was just boring and flight was okay at best. Also wasn’t a fan of the dungeons and settings. I might play on a Wrath server, though. I always liked those zones and I liked playing a DK tank.

Character copy would be better than transfer. This way there is still something there if people choose to return to Classic servers.

When they do release BC the servers need to be cloned so they can be pushed on a different set of servers. They can let the classic servers die out to the point they can merge them all together to have like two servers.

#nochanges

FORCE all classic players in to TBC expansion whether they like it or not.

give em the screwed feeling to keep it authentic

seriously though, option b is best.

Honestly, something different. Not BC, and not the never ending stat inflation. Classic+ with the balance and talents from BC, but stay at lvl 60…or a new lvl 65 path that keeps old content relevant.

I say this as BC being my favorite expansion…as I could finally really pally tank like a boss.

I’d leave 60+ content unchanged, other than the changes that will be introduced in the Phases to come. I’m not entirely opposed to the idea of separate BC servers at some point (though I have no interest in playing on them, or on any DLC servers), but I would strongly prefer that Blizzard actually take a risk with their IP and work on Classic+ servers that offer new content created with the writing style and spirit of the old Blizzard team (and maybe even with the support and advice of the old Blizzard story writers and game designers).

im in this boat

  1. Create new ones for both BC and Wrath. keep them all separate versions.
  2. Keep Classic access free with an active retail account, and tack on an extra 5$ to that if we choose to have either the Wrath version or BC version lumped in. 10$ for both.

Any thoughts?

Or, instead of porting the lvl 60 toon over to the TBC servers, make a copy of it, and leave the original on Classic.

That way People get to both keep their max toon in Classic, and be able to either reroll a lvl 1 in TBC, or have the copy of their lvl 60 at the start.

Any thoughts?

Imagine being able to make the entire journey through the Legacy versions, and have a version of the same toon on each.

Dove at lvl 60, then at 70, then 80, ect. I think that would be kind of cool.

Then make an achievement show up in Retail for completing this with a special mount or title as a reward.

That’s why I said character copy and not transfer. It should be like copying your character to the PTR. You get to play the PTR AND your character stays on your home server. I think that lets people who want to go to TBC still retain a stake in Classic so they can come back for friends or whatever. It lessens any sting of potential community splitting along lines of expansions. People like myself have no interest in TBC. Others do. But we should try to minimize barriers if possible and one way is to allow character copies to allow people to come back to Classic when they want.

All servers move on to BC - I pull my sub as soon as its announced.

Create new BC servers and allow people to transfer off Classic servers to the new BC servers but maintain Classic servers as Classic only - I like this option, but it’s unrealistic, as there are too many issues for it to be viable. Look at how people have handled the current population problems, the stink they’d kick up over this would be monumental and harder still to solve.

Don’t do 60+ … this where we land I think. I dont trust Blizzard enough to add anything without destroying Classic the same way they did with Vanilla and when you then combine that with the irrational players…yeah, this just ain’t going to end well…

You know what, so long as they give it a year or two before they kill it again by following player feedback, I doubt I’ll really care by then.

That would not be authentic. The first time TBC was released, I was excited, and had relative faith in Blizzard to develop the game well. When WotLK was released, I was again excited and positive.

This time, the message that “Classic is being updated to BC!” would cause me immediately to go, “…and to BFA in ten years, huh? Goodbye, Blizzard.”

I would do Classic, BC, WotLK then reset it back to classic every 6 years, but also launch fresh start classic servers when the xpac’s come out so players who only want to play classic can.
