Like the title says, how would you grade the last 6 expansions including the current one (BfA)? You may grade vanilla WoW too if you played at that time.

I didn’t play at vanilla but when I play classic this august I’ll guess maybe a B-.
If I played back then it would be a solid A, but I think by today’s standards it is a B- (at least for me of course).

since you asked for expansion I didn’t include classic but I’d give it a solid D
BC: C -Got stuck in kara which was boring but the spec tree was awesome.
Wrath: A+ -Very good story, still had all the class customization and really love snow themes so that adds to it for me.
Cata: B+ Got worgen and all the awesomeness that comes with them, I actually liked deathwing as a antagonist I don’t like that the zones are still on fire as if it happened yesterday…
Kung Fu Panda: C The panda pandering to china was really obvious, I hated the legendary cloak grind and being forced to pvp top get it. This is when classes started to become a pasty unidentifiable blob to me but warlocks could cast and move so it was fun. early expansion gearing was annoyingly gated by reputation.
WoD: D I really don’t care about orcs or their lore and time travel was a dumb idea that blizz didn’t have the writing talent to pull off. The questing experience was fantastic but just about everything else was awful including the ending where the mass murdering leader said “me sowwy” and everyone forgave him for some reason.
Legion: B- I spent most of the expansion prepping for mage tower and hated every minute of it but otherwise the expansion was good, major downside that it introduced the ap grind that will haunt us for expansions to come.
BFA: F The idea that two islands have been sitting near the mailstrom and been totally unaffected by deathwing and undiscovered by anyone is already stupid and every decision made in BFA is equally stupid. The only good thing in this entire turd sandwich is new races being added. The story is a ripoff of the cold war and snidley whiplash with tatas is a terrible villain.

Expansions? To be fair I have played all expansions completely since I left after WotLK and came back in legion.
Bc- b. I liked the story fine but didn’t like Outland much. Huge zones…so big. So long to quest.
WotLK- A. I feel it’s the best to date still, blizzard firing on all cylinders. Good story line to follow, professions still mattered, and WoW was in a good spot.
Cata- C . never played much. Can’t rate it really, but from the content I’ve played I’d say c. Average.
MoP- B. Zones are beautiful, lots to do, although I got a little tired of entire Asian themed zones after awhile. But still great.
WoD- never played any of it. No idea yet.
Legion- B as well. Again like mop…great zones, loved the story and legion theme. First time I felt like I was actually doing some end game stuff killing demonic legions. not just beating up local wildlife and thugs still. Professions were not great though…downward spiral began
BFA- I’d say C+. I think that people have been a bit harsh on this expac personally. Professions are trash, BoP items make profs useless almost. Money sinks. And gathering isn’t too bad for money at least. I felt the zones were hit and miss. Nazmir and zuldazar are great, with Voldun being same old desert zones.
Drustvarr is great as well. All in all the zones for alliance are ok, but felt like I was just seeing the same old in some cases. But still decent.
One thing I do like is his solo players can still get decent gear, transmogs and lots of world quests and stuff to keep busy, instead of being forced into raids. I know many dont like that, but that’s just me.
All in all the expansions have been ok.
MoP: A (Fun PVP, Fun PVE, fun world content, etc. solid expac)
WoD: C+ (Incredible raids, mediocre PVP. Lack of content weighs down heavily)
Legion: D+ (Terrible PVP, mediocre PVE, legendaries, etc)
BFA: C- (It’s not Legion so it’s already better)
I still feel like this question generally needs a division:
I had tons of fun in Wrath, Cata, and MoP, but I don’t necessarily feel that MoP, for example, is better than Legion when it comes down to the game’s design – I just didn’t have as much fun in Legion despite my feelings on it being a better version of the game.
