How would YOU fix the faction "imbalance"?

This I totally agree with you about.

Alliance are not disadvantaged in any way other than most raiders being horde. Free transfers to grt some of those raiders back on alliance is all that is needed and get rid of the silly extra 20% we have.

It doesn’t even have to end with faction removal. Letting players group for dungeons, raids, etc. regardless of faction can help ameliorate some of the demographical issues - and it’s not like the Alliance and Horde have never worked together. Literally every expansion we’ve done it.

There’s simply no excuse at this point.

Removing factions. GG.

I’d fix it by simply by implementing cross faction grouping and guilds.

I would be ok with a mercenary mode like we have in PvP but just general grouping would be a nah.

I would go with a more D&D approach with an alignment system. I think the factions should fall more under what alignment you are. I think every one plays Horde because the Horde is about being “Honorable”. It is an idea that has captivated entire nations. Japan and the Danes for example. What does the Alliance have going for it? What ideology drives it? The Light Vs Fell magic would have been a good one to go with, but Blizzard had other plans.

If the Alliance was Lawful Good and the Horde was True Neutral you could have some serious disagreements on how the factions behave and yet each side feel as if they are in the right. Look at a game like Skyrim, how many people had serious problems picking a side? I know I did, I hated both factions. You either had to roll with a faction that forced a religion on it’s citizens or a faction that was lead by racist. That’s a hard choice to make. Everyone knows Thrall and the real Horde never wanted war but just to be left in peace. That’s honorable and a good thing to fight for. What does the Alliance a have that an equally motivating draw to it?

Freedom to live and do as you please while fighting for the rights of others to do the same. - VS- A Nation built on moral and just laws where Justice is truly blind.

Mob Rule or True Democracy vs A Republic with individual rights and liberty.

These are concepts that may very well move people enough to want to fight for a side.

Put the factions in an alliance with each other so players can group, guild, and do content together regardless of faction. Then create three Mercenary Factions separate from the Alliance and Horde that have no unique bonuses, cosmetic or otherwise, that players have to pick between for PvP related content.

Automatically lock the ability to join a faction if at any point it grows more than 10-15% larger than the smallest faction to keep the gaps closed.

I mean, its the most minimalist version of what I would personally like to see because I don’t have time to type up a huge post detailing the specifics but I think that would help. The biggest thing is making sure there is no cosmetics or power gain behind the factions, akin to ESO or GW2 and how they handle PvP.

Alliance side needs promotion? I hadn’t realized there were so many more horde. I’ve been alliance since I started playing. Always felt busy, even on my server (which has been called “dead” on many occasions). Are the horde cities simply teeming with life? I can only imagine it must be like rush-hour in downtown NY if this is what the under-represented side is like.

If this was the case I would roll Alliance right away. I always liked the Dwarfs better than any other race. But I think this is where ideology matters, picking a faction that best suites what you want to fight for and what ideology you want follow. I would easily roll Alliance if I didn’t have to stop playing with my guild and friends.

Find the most used classes on each faction, and delete them lol.

That wouldn’t fix imbalance, it’d be a death knell. If they let you play every race on either faction there is zero reason to choose the less popular faction.

Making them purely cosmetic would remove any numerical advantage, no matter how small. It’s the psychology behind it.

Cross-faction gameplay.

Handicaps, it made horde quit and forced faction transfers for $

The disintegration of alliance raiding is the main issue.

The factions were relatively balanced heading into the Cataclysm era of the game. The addition of Blood Elves and paladins to the horde had basically evened out the population disparity that had original existed (in favor of alliance).

There was already the perception, of course, that the devs favored Horde, and the Horde still had its original appeal as the more savage, pvp-oriented faction. But the alliance was a very good choice for pve at that time.

That’s what created the problem gradually, in a way that many players predicted: too many incentives for the best alliance guilds to switch factions.

Yes, poor development of the alliance as a faction in other ways has not helped, but Horde is now the best choice for all types of content, which wasn’t originally the case.

I think the problem is likely to get worse, tbh. There’s no longer any practical reason to play alliance except alts. (I mean in the actual game, of course, not in a tournament or similar situation.)

I also vote for allowing cross-faction play. Then it wouldn’t matter which faction you are on, you could still play with your friends. You might even see more of a balance as people who play horde to be with their horde friends (or with the bigger raider pool) make an alliance character instead.

The entire game could work the same for PVP and if they really, really wanted to they could still play up the faction rivalry, but it would be just that, rivalry between two sides that still work together for common goals. Which is pretty much what it has always been in the lore anyway.

Hey blizz, here’s some feedback for ya. Hopefully you guys read it.

Not that it would fix any imbalances… But it is getting old with the short end of the stick all the bloody time with allied races. And the wonderful news is now they are all set in stone so you can’t even fix it! Thank you SO much.

Take your stupid VEs, diaper gnomes, and fat people back.

I’d be fine with mixed faction BGs.
