DPS racials are within a few dozen points between most races with some horde races being top for some classes and some alliance races being top for some classes.
So then if DPS is not a factor, you have to look at utility and right now Alliance has some really good utility racials. Dwarves, DID, and NE have some really nice utility. I am not saying horde doesn’t have good racials, but I think that right now that Alliance would be hurt more then horde if racials went away.

Not the point of my obviously facetious post. There is no faction imbalance. One faction pushes content. The other one doesn’t.

They could start getting groups formed, they have over 2m characters at max level after all.
lol “obviously”? Not around here, my friend. There are people who actually believe that removing the casual content will force people to raid.

They could.
But they aren’t.
So what can be done to change that. This is what the thread is about
I still have yet to hear a reason the faction wall needs to go down besides rp and story.
Nothing, that’s not up to Blizzard, that’s up to the players. Is not blizzard’s fault they don’t want to get content done.
I wish we had access to the numbers to review, from my understanding talking to fair few is that their mains do raid on horde, and great deal of those alliance numbers you quoted are alts that do causal stuff on alliance side. I doubt we as players will ever get such a breakdown.

There is nothing they can do that is an end user problem. Apparently Alliance players would be complacent to be dismissed by the devs and live up to the low expectations as the ‘hug and friendship’ faction. And it’s a mystery why we get rubbish leaders like Anduin written for us.

Doesn’t mean the game wouldn’t be better off with a more even spread
If racials are the grain of rice which tips the scales, then removing them from the scales is step one to making the scales balanced once more. If racials stop being specific to a specific faction, but can be found on both, we have balance. Arguably racials could be as OP as anyone wants at that point since disrupting faction balance ceases to be a problem.
Dropping the faction wall in that method benefits the game from a PvE standpoint. As for PvP, mercenary mode already exists, so the wall has been dropped there already. Besides, it’d be a way for players to reap the benefit of the war mode imbalance until balance is restored to it as well.

It’s entirely possible that the reason most alliance members have not been tackling higher difficulty content is because they have no interest in doing so.
That’s not a problem, except for the alliance members who do…and for them it’s one that can not be fixed.

They should look at my profile. I spend most of my time in game getting transmog pieces, pets and mostly gear through events like TW.
I have all blizzard can do to get me to raid, races on my side with decent racials and players and yet, here I am.

It also affects anyone who likes open world pvp. Between alliance players or people who like the alliance aesthetic who want to raid and world pvp I’m guessing that’s a lot of people
For people new to the server.
I would be pissed if my main server wouldn’t allow me any more alts simply because the whatever-faction population is full. I’m only one person- it doesn’t matter if I’m playing my main or an alt.
The Warmode imbalance is not a “faction” imbalance. When Blizz was handing out heroic raiding items for AOO every horde FP and WQ was overrun by alliance gankers.
Alliance has the numbers, but lack the desire to do some content. Nothing wrong with that. Please stop making up excuses like racials, or things that happened over 10 yrs ago.

I would keep the factions in place, but given the current state of things on Azeroth, I would allow people to CHOOSE their factions.
Current players would do it naturally through a new questline in the SL prepatch, while new players would do it once they finished the new starting zone. Instead of GOOD VS BAD you would select based on a set of ideals and which faction you think will help you succeed the most, not necessarily “picking sides.” Almost like choosing a career path so to speak.
Then you could still have Horde vs Alliance BGs, the leadership would still remain the same in the factions, etc… We would just be able to make our own decisions on where to go.

All these people will be leaving Alliance soon or later, thus making the imbalance worse, it’s not like the faction numbers are frozen or something.

No please, don’t ask them to do that. It’s ironic when night elves complain about racials while not knowing they are dominating competitive mythic dungeons.
