A brief outline of the general idea, but with their activity reignited by N’Zoth’s activities on Azeroth, I wouldn’t necessarily mind that being the next direction the game goes.
It gives Blizzard an excuse to do the long awaited or wished for rather, world revamp. Old but updated locales, with everything to love (morbidly) about a swarming insectoid invasion.
No ‘WHO’S THE COSMIC EVIL BEHIND THIS!?’ nonsense. No. It’s just bugs. Nasty, lay-eggs-in-corpses (best part of the new Uldum by the way), bugs.
And who ends up being unexpected allies in our fight? The mantid possibly? It was just a thought.
I just feel like we need a break from this ‘THE VOID AND TITANS AND WOOONS’ drama for a more relatable theme.
If we get lots of cool Egyptian transmog I’m down

In MoP, the noise made by the Mantid was very annoying. The MoP expansion was well balanced between Mogu, Pandaren and Mantid, otherwise my head would have exploded.
I personnaly don’t want a full expansion dealing with bugs or earing them.
If the Old Ones ever return, we mantid will once again stand by their side.

The Silithid are too chained to the Old Gods at this point - hell, even their original incarnation was explicitly tied to C’thun.
I don’t see how you can sever that connection. Silithid lead to Qiraji which lead to C’thun which leads to the Dark Side.

Or how about an expansion of the combined forces of the Alliance and Horde going up against the bug races of Azeroth in general because said bug races are angry because we killed their last god and want to eliminate the children of the titans.

I suppose in the sense that they have nothing tethering them, by the time we leave the Shadowlands they’ve started to go utter batshiet and just literally pour out of Uldum.
Hey listen I’m also just keen on Blizzard taking the game in a more grounded and scary direction. Scary in the sense that the thought of insects, in WoW, laying eggs in bodies, to be a thing.
Something about carrying a body to a flaming heap made me think “Jeez…people died here”. So A+ for the immersion there.

Never been a fan of fighting bugs in any video game. So many games have you fight bugs.
It bugs me.

And there we go to lose another city of the alliance to later excuse the horde and help them to solve another problem that they should solve for themselves.
Swell
if they don’t clean up the underlying spaghetti code it’ll wind up buggy as heck

We kinda had a Silithid expansion in the form of opening the gates in Silithus during AQ40. TBH i’ve had enough of them at this point
Would rather have a Murloc Expansion first.

I would’ve preferred a N’Zoth vs Titans, Silithid expansion over it just being a patch in favor of another faction war. Would’ve made a lot of sense, given Sargeras’ sword puncturing Silithius.
With N’Zoth dead, doesn’t seem like a possibility for the future. They’d have to use C’Thun (if it’s also not dead from AQ raid) or create a new Old God.
Both WoD and BFA disappointed me with the story, mostly because they squandered great opportunities.

Maybe not entirely Silithid focused, but I’d definitely be down for an expansion where there isn’t any “AZEROTH AND THE WHOLE UNIVERSE NEED YOU CHAMPYUN!!”
The only good bug is a dead bug.
Silithid, Mantid and Nerubian.
A war of three old god loving insectoid races.
We’d be able to check out the underground kingdoms!
I’d be so bored of it. I am seeing enough of them in Voldunai to last me forever.
Well, now I’m curious if you’re also bored of the other races we see just about every expansion: demons/Legion, Trolls, Void/Old Gods? In comparison, we barely see Mantid and Silithid.
Or is it just that insects are not as exotic, so to speak, since they’re something we see in every day life?
Yeah, I could use more Zerg to exterminate.
En Taro Vol’dun!

How about an expansion, where the Horde & Alliance actually lose? All major cities destroyed, and the factions reduced to a shadow of the power they once had.
Something devastating to keep the player engaged in the game. We need a good villain, like Arthas. And it’s not Sylvanas.
