How active is WPvP here? Can I expect to see places under attack every now and then? If I try to defend it, are others likely to help? Do people still attack Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and other cities? How many players on each faction am I likely to see (outside of Valdrakken) with war mode on? Are there plenty of people dueling outside of Stormwind, Goldshire, and Orgrimmar? I’m just tired of playing World of InstanceCraft.
All I can say is, my guild may invade every one in a while.
EDIT: We target realistic locations throughout Kalimdor, though. Won’t find us, heavily, in the Eastern Kingdoms. Neither would it seem realistic for us to invade a capital city. Mostly within Stonetalon, The Barrens, Dustwallow Marsh, 1K Needles, Desolace, Feralas, and Ashenvale. Rare appearances in other regions of Kalimdor, with occasional rogue-like low-profile visits in Booty Bay. We’re brand new and our numbers are VERY low, so it hasn’t even manifested itself, yet.
I cannot make any updates without someone making a comment, unfortunately. Might need someone to aid me with that by making a comment so I can post updates that are visible.
Hello OP.
There might be some WPvP here and there. Most of my experience on MG has come from those random encounters with lone horde rogues in Stormwind. Most of the time it ends quickly for the hordie. Don’t let MG fool you. There are a lot of really good RPers who are really good PvPers.
These days, I think you will be hard pressed to find much WPvP on any of the realms.
Cheers.
PS:
Many moons ago, I was a wee level pally and new to MG but I do remember a sizable group of hordies (from WrA and other off realmers) that thought they would sweep through MG Stormwind. Yeah, they never made it out of the embassy. That was something to witness!
alliance on MG outnumber every horde heavy server so you may not find a lot of activity in warmode
my guild will occasionally hit SW, we usually hold until the LFR comes in
Alliance doesnt seem interested in raiding Horde cities that much
Yeah, Mord has it down pretty well. Just means you get to roll Horde with us
I’ve had some good experiences though overall after coming from Emerald Dream. Despite some uneven numbers in the Dragon Isles I’ve found, started, and ended fights on Horde and Alliance. Every Monday(Tuesday?) you’ll see Sunfury out murdering everyone in sight somewhere, there are a few RP-PvP guilds popping up on Alliance that get out there, new content is always a hot spot warmode or not (had some fun with WM off during the Gilneas quests despite the lag and losing each time lol).
I’ve always found like one or two random people in Org now and again. Just saw a druid yesterday while on an alt and folks normally arent evicting them so gives you some time to shine. Oddly I’ve hardly seen Horde folks in SW but sure they’re out there. I’d be if I wasn’t terrible at rogue batmanning across rooftops like when camo’s cd started once used, not once you’re out of it
It still an RP server though so if you’re not looking to RP, perhaps set your sights on somewhere else.
Mordekeiser is everywhere. I’m glad he popped in to explain the WPvP environment between MG and WrA.
Definitely have an open mind about WPvP. It can be a lot of fun if you don’t take it too seriously.
One of my best memories of WPvP in SW came when I was still on ED. There was a Vulpera Rogue who would sneak into SW and just Net-O-Magic me. I couldn’t parkour the rooftops to get away and always ended falling to my death. Funniest WPvP I ever participated in. Being one-shotted by that Tauren Rogue here on MG is right up there. Hilarious!
At the very start of this season, when the only way to level pvp gear was to wpvp, it was bonkers.
I had so much fun.
In my experience so far this season, most won’t attacks unless provoked. Few will on sight, though.
For the weird way I RP the game the world PvP is what it is. I just literally fold it into my story so good versus bad becomes moot. I’m a gnome who is somehow cursed with immortality but also damned to be really weak.
Like, if you were somehow able to quantify the butt-kicking-potential (bkp) of an individual with the curse of immortality the Pook, she’s only a Level 20 Immortal. Anyone who is a level 25 Immortal can probably kill the Pook. Sometimes I meet people and they want to get stabby with the Pook. I don’t know why, this world is nuts. The Pook has literally seen Face Muncher Jones just completely lose it on this guy in Dampwick and he wasn’t even doing anything, he was just waiting in line for some soup.
So I live in a world where people get stabby, and the Pook is not so good at the stabbing, much better at the sneaking. So I avoid getting stabby. It was a policy which served the Pook pretty well before she found out she was immortal. And since finding out about the curse of immortality it’s been serving the Pook pretty well ever since. Meet someone who is not immortal and they want to get stabby? Well I’m gonna do what I can not to get stabby with them. Doesn’t seem like a fair fight when one of us only has to run back from the naked lady in the grave yard. I’d rather pass through hostile territory stealthed than fight my way across it one mortal life at a time.
As for when I meet someone who knows the Pook is immortal and still wants to get stabby? Well, if their bkp is sufficiently advanced they’re gonna kill the Pook. I’m only level 20 and that’s all I’m ever gonna be. Nobody is impressed if you kill the Pook. That’s like me stomping the ducklings down at the park into the mud and then strutting around like the Pook is now Queen of the Ducks. No. The Pook isn’t the Queen of the Ducks. The Pook is a low level immortal who has to freelance in the Alliance Militia For Low Level Immortals where all day long it’s hurry up and wait. Hurry up and wait.
I’ve been waiting for Battle Ground deployment for three and a half hours now Mathias! The Pook has been running around Stormwind on Rogue Booping duty because it’s been three and a half hours and a BG hasn’t popped. And what happens Mathias when it does pop? What happens? It’s Seething Shore and it’s 4v8 and it doesn’t matter which side you’re on it sucks because you’re hoping the side with 4 will get one more player before the deployment auto-ends and that that poor unfortunate soul won’t say “to hecketies with this” and rage quit making this whole affair a big colossal waste of time because the Pook has been waiting Mathias, the Pook has been waiting to be deployed to a battle ground for three and a half hours Mathias and if Seething Shore pops then you can bet that the Pook is going to steal as much of that sweet sweet War Candy as she can because THREE AND A HALF HOURS MATHIAS!
So yeah, when my civilian boss, a goblin media mogul named Daprodoosa Sleezenik sends a Pook on a job to shoot some B-roll somewhere outside of Stormwind and people want to get stabby with me, even if they can one shot me I just tell them, “Look buddy, the Pook has people waiting to stab her professionally back in Stormwind, you really think you’re gonna accomplish anything by stabbing me here? You’re about to learn what happens when you combine gnomish neurology with a curse of immortality. It creates a whole level of stubbornness that few Long-Leggedies have the patience to deal with. The Pook’s gotta be where the Pook’s gotta be so if you wanna sit down and chat the Pook will do her best but hey, I’m a gnome and I’m immortal and I can run away from the naked lady all day.”
So yeah that’s how the Pook finds PvP (P.eople V.iciously-stabbing-the P.ook) in the world of Azeroth and pretty much any other world the Pook has been to.
Blizz removing World Defense caused WPVP in more far flung places to take a hit.
One of my main ways for finding RP during WoD/Legion was defending Brill and Crossroads from ad-hoc Alliance raids and the best way to get notified was the World Defense alerts. Was always a good time fighting off guys and then RPing about our victories (or losses).
