It’s likely we’re gonna see Nathanos in Shadowlands.
Now I wonder for fun, if we were actual characters in Azeroth and foresaw this, how would we prevent it? You can’t kill him, so you need to imprison him or do something else.
But the stockades are the least secure prison in existance, so my proposal is burying him ‘alive’ beneath an undisclosed location on the ocean floor… What would yall do?

Lop off his arms and legs Monty Python black knight style and then randomly poke his torso with sanctified silver weapons wielded by Paladin as priests “heal” the wounds.
Pay a warlock to soulshard him. Keep it in the bank.
Or void storage, i forget it’s there, would be a good place for him.

Let Bwonsamdi know what’s about to go down so he can swipe Nathanos’ soul before it goes to the Shadowlands. I’m sure ol’ Bwonsamdi would have a lot of fun things in mind for him.
Just take him up into the Vindicaar and throw him out the airlock.
Have the gnomes design something so that his body isn’t killed by the vacuum of space(assuming we even have to worry about that, given he’s undead).
When he gives me a quest I do it and then I turn it back into him. That is the extent of my dealings with Nathanos.
Sealed shut in a cave with Nickleback’s “greatest hits” on rotation for all of eternity.
Slowly rip his fingers and toes off to see if he feels pain.
If he does, slowly rip his arms and legs off.
Then chuck him down a well and fill it in.
Put him in a very heavy coffin. Throw him into the ocean. He’s undead. He’ll just be stuck underwater with nothing to do.

I’m still wondering why Tyrande didn’t just throw him in prison. Like, Maiev has what is probably the second most secure prison in Azeroth and there’s also one below mount Hyjal
