TL:DR How would you change Wind Walker if you could? Could be many things, or just one thing.
Ok backstory. During the beta testing of MoP (only beta I’ve ever been invited to) I fell in love with wind walker monk and MW was tons of fun as well. There was something about it that just kept me going back to the class. In WoD I started playing it less and less for some reason, and by legion, I really wasn’t interested in the spec anymore.
I think for me it had a lot to do with the mastery. Some love it, some hate it, but I dislike not being able to use multiple black out kicks back to back. I also dislike feeling forced into picking whirling dragon kick, because it adds a little more to my buttons.
I’m not sure what would get me to love the class again, but a mastery change, and whiling dragon kick baseline would go a long way for me.
What would you change, about WW, to make the spec more fun for you again?
I definitely enjoy a good damage cool down =] The tiger would be a cool visual effect, storm earth and fire would be neat if it activated when you used port, almost like decoys to the enemy.
2 charges for FoF and RSK because we actually have to try and potato our mastery with those abilities.
Baseline Reverse Harm.
Delete the damage bonus from DoCJ. Put base MotC back to 50%. No target cap on the debuff.
Base GCD of .75 seconds.
Just the basic stuff I would change. Others would require a lot more explanation, typing, and development time.
Ok, but you can though. We’re Vers > crit = mast. And BoK isn’t even that much of our damage. Even if you were a stickler for mastery, you could mix in an FSK or Chi Wave/Burst.
I suppose so, I haven’t played my WW seriously in some time. Just some torghasts, raid finder and such so I’m not super experienced with the damage breakdowns these days.
This would be interesting, I like where you are going here. I would love to see all those changes you recommended, it would certainly make it flow and feel better to play (IMO).
When they changed the burst from tiger eye brew to storm earth fire they ruined monks…
Monks are not fun to play and they are just as boring as dh, this is the 3rd expansion in a row where I have to use this crappy SEF cd, it’s a joke. WW is not fun.
The reason I’m playing bc right now and not shadowland is because ww is litteraly a boring watered down spec. Almost every other class got so many changes going into SL and monks got nothing.
So yeah, at this point I’m thinking a complete spec overhaul is needed. I will not play retail until they change ww.
Or when they next expansion starts I’ll just main something else from now on cause WW gameplay is complete trash.
That would certainly make FoF more competitive with RSK. But multiple charges gives you more flexibility because you can delay a spell for a global or two while you sit on 1 charge while the cooldown of the second charge progresses.
I played a lot in bfa. They butchered monk really bad. The last time ww was any good was in legion. And that was only because we had fof stun, so we could do this massive stun lock combo and get awesome kills and it made it fun and memorable to play.
Before that with tigereye brew not having your damage set tied to a set of cooldowns rather it was a build up and dump style also had some very memorable gameplay… bfa and shadowland ww is not it my guys… where are my ogs at
For PVP? Turn it back to MOP/WOD. Bring back TEB, utility, put your damage into fists instead of parry fists. Just generally return to the utility + ramp up damage style it used to be.
For PVE? It’s fine however it is as long as it has a clear identity to what i twants to do, e.g. Cleave.
I’d still prefer WOD over Legion+. Spec still had an identity and was generally the same as MOP minus some utility. But generally still the same thing, with unique PVP gameplay with Chi Torpedo burst
