I’m using an MSI GS65 Stealth 9SD laptop to play wow and so far its been pretty good. Most of the time it runs fairly smoothly but my fps has dipped slowly over time. When i first got the laptop (like maybe 1-2 months ago) it could run up to 90fps but now its consistent at 40fps. Does anybody have any tips on how to get it back up? Or is it a hardware problem because I heard WoW is CPU intensive and that my laptop’s CPU isn’t that good?
Your laptop has a 9th gen i7 and 1660ti?
What settings do you play at? Check to see if the render scale for your resolution is at 100%
Do you get that FPS during raids / major cities or open world? I haven’t played on a laptop in a long time, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s pretty average performance.
I would check to see if your laptop is thermal throttling, slowing its speed to prevent overheating.
Some weakauras and addons can crash fps.
Yes, it has a 9th gen i7 and 1660ti. I play at graphics setting 7. I realise my laptop was indeed getting a bit too hot so i elevated it which helped increase my fps to 65 average but is there any other way to go up higher? So far my addons seem OK.
You could look into cleaning it out. Odds are that over time it is getting dirty inside which can cause it to get hotter.
Of course that is assuming you would be comfortable doing that and also assuming the laptop is easy to open and clean.
Saw this video. maybe it will help.
You could try replacing the thermal paste too. There’s probably a YouTube video for doing it with your laptop. Buying a laptop cooling pads with fans in it could be an option too. There are a lot on amazon. Not sure how comfortable it would be for your wrists, may be better to use a mouse and keyboard.
If you’re getting 65 fps at 7 and while you’re in combat, probably not much is going to change the rest of BFA
