Whats your process going to be? Assuming you have at least 2+ options for whatever server type you’re looking for
- West Coast US
- Correct Realm Type
- Randomize
Find a pvp server with a high pop and hope its not filled with tourists who are going to leave in a week.
- East Coast US
- PvE
- See if I can do a quick scan and avoid starting on a server that any prominent streamers are starting on. If this is not feasible, randomize.
I’m picking the server that has the most streamers on it.
The world PvP will be insane and that’s what I like
At this point what ever has the lowest population and/or no streamers.
That’s it
What we mutually agree upon: split the difference between time zones and type. Thing were less complicated for me before my friends decided to return for Classic.
If RP-PVP is available will make a character/alt on that realm no matter what.
Join a rppvp server
Standing 15’ from my monitor and throwing a dart.
- Get a sub-set of the servers by my time zone.
- Get a sub-set of those servers that are PvP.
- Get a sub-set of those servers that have neutral names (to promote close to 50/50 faction ratio).
- Remove the servers from the previous sub-set 3 that popular streamers will play on (so I am not on a server with several thousand players over the normal cap).
- Put the servers in order by name and roll a random number 1 to the number of total servers in the final sub-set and pick that one.
I hope it isn’t like 20 servers total for all of North America. I honestly think we will need over 100 servers just for North America. Let us say that 1,000,000 players are interested in North America. Then let us say that each server will hold 6,000 players before a queue is in place. That is over 150 servers. If they seriously launch with less than 100 servers, their servers will constantly crash for sure and so much for their layering.
East coast, PvP, streamerless.
Find popular streamers
Avoid server
PvP only
Server time zone, PvP.
Serious question, how do you know what the time zone of the servers will be. In retail anyway the in game server selection doesn’t say anything about if the server is east coast, west coast ect.
Server that my guild decides on.
I’ll probably roll a few Horde on another server and Alliance on a PvE for my friends from Vanilla and BC planning to play again.
In Vanilla, they posted a list. These days you can just look at Server Status for retail:
Pvp
Central
Coolest name
Just like the first time
Still holding out hope for a RP-PvP server so I can fite LARPers. Cannot believe there isn’t one!
if not… a quiet PvE server far away from streamers and other bleeding edge poopsockers.
If there’s more than 1 RP realm, I’m going to just choose whatever name of the realms I like the best ._.
Edit: also EST if available above server name (if available)
I’m going wherever the streamers are. The activity will be great and the in-game events they will host will be fun. Filling a 40 man team for raids will be much easier. WPVP is gonna be nutty, too.
