How will retail and classic accounts be tied together?

This is kind of a weird question, but I cant seem to wrap my head around how things will cross between the two games.

What I am mainly wondering is if retail character achievements/progression will be visible or searchable based on classic characters using the same account. I am concerned that retail experience will be referenced for classic guilds/raids/etc. I also wonder if you can see friends on your list if they are playing a toon on a classic server because they are the same battletag?

I personally would like to have these experiences separate from each other. Would hate from someone to see how amazing I was in retail, and hold me to that standard with my new class in classic!!

they won’t be tied together at all. classic is classic and retail is retail.

Retail and Classic are for all intents and purposes two entirely separate games … like WOW and Diablo III … there are no inter-game links.

The only thing tying them together are the Collector’s Edition pets. That’s it. Nothing else.

And that’s how it should be.

Really, you mean the ‘vanilla’ Collector’ Edition?

Yes. When you log into Classic you have the gift for your CE pet selection.

Duct tape.

Ah, okay, that makes sense if someone has that edition it’s only right they have access to the perks it gave back in the day.

I agree

No.

Yes.

BattleNet was always going to be integrated, because its Blizzard centric not WoW centric.

As people have said, it’s akin to asking if Diablo III and WoW will be connected. With the exception of the aforementioned pets and of course your Battlenet friend list, Classic and retail have no connections or connectivity and are simply similar in name/appearance.

Blizzard has also said they don’t want the two connected and 99% of us are in that boat too. (If someone is about to say “don’t speak for me”, you’re the 1% :stuck_out_tongue: You exist and we know that.)

If you’re not an M+ hero, I won’t take you to Naxx with my guild.

The achievements are not connected. It is my understanding that battlenet integration and subscription fee are the only thing shared.
