Alliance do fight much harder on AV weekends. As a horde the most I got out of a single AV in an av weekend was ~9.5k + the 2.4k for great honor turn in. for a 30ish min game so absolute max would be like 22k honor per hour if there was no queue. Maybe rush strats would increase that substantially. I think it could be efficient for alli rankers if they could 10 or 15man queue AV (with AB/WSG) and win some games.
They wont. Unless horde players actually WANT a real challenge, which I highly doubt it, call for changes. But we all know they wont.
But if they were to do something about it. They would need to ACTUALLY see how thereâs sooo much stupid BS for one faction over the other, it would basically need to be a remake of the map.
Give us paid faction changes to fix the imbalance will get better and more players going alli sounds good to me
Just make it AV weekend and suddenly the alliance is capable of capturing objectives and getting honor. Such an easy fix.
But on a serious note, fixing the cave spawn to actually match vanilla, and pushing the horde cave back about 50 feet would be pretty good balancing fixes.
A bigger balance change would be to remove the west ramp at SH. It would make it similar to IB.
LOL, the QQ about how trash the North starting location threads would block the sun.
Doubt.
If they switched faction sides, soon as Horde started losing and getting farmed at IBT and Alliance were cave spawning to rush IBGY so you couldnât cap it with ease the Horde would demand a reversal.
The map is so wonky that Iâm unsure how it even got out of initial testing if they even did any.
Right.
Either the map isnât the problem and swapping sides would show that or it or the map IS the problem and it needs to be fixed.
Itâs not too bad to do either. Pretty much every NPC on each side has a direct counterpart. Map them to each other. Donât change the buildings at all, just make it part of the lore that sometimes the two armies run into each other and grab the nearest side to defend. Make sure various scripts get swapped and work properly. Done.
But none of this will happen. Blizzard is doing as little as possible with Classic, they are just milking the players for the sweet, sweet nostalgia cash.

Different ideas might be:
-
Re-scale the BG for 20 vs 20 or 15 vs 15 and lvl 60s only (technical challenge which would probably have lots of NPC removed and the map resized.)
-
Make the BG non faction like a merc mode (this would be least popular and cause nerd rage aneurysms)
-
60s only and change the way rep is earned. eg Taking towers and killing LTs give much more rep. Loot from players does not give rep.
-
Admit defeat and remove the battleground. Move development resources to creating a new small BG.
Actually, adding in merc mode would probably be the simplest way to deal with it. Horde will jump at the chance to reduce their queue times, and the win rates will probably start to even out because of that.
It wasnât quite as bad during vanilla because you didnât have the cave spawn unless horde lost FW and RH or IB and you were too forward on the map to be caught in another GYâs net. IB wouldnât catch people who died in FWKeep so you got to respawn at the cave. Classic screwed up the GYâs and the devs donât care to fix the issue or even call out a lie that itâs working like their reference client.
To balance the map to a point where minor differences mean almost nothing requires 3 things:
- Adjust the elemental summoning location for alliance
- Remove the western ramp at SH to make it a choke similar to IB.
- Add/remove LoS at boss locations.
Have to fix alliance, not AV
Getting rid of LvL 51s there for welfare epics ⌠like OP ⌠is step 1
Cave spawn was the same in vanilla. They changed it in TBC.
Moving the horde cave back fixes the cave spawn at IBGY and will have horde rezzing in the cave when FWGY is assaulted just like alliance spawn in the cave when SPGY is assaulted. It also prevents horde from reaching SHB and SF early. Galv stands a chance of actually awarding honor and setting up the choke at IWB will require more effort if alliance have enough people south to give horde defense a hard time.
Thereâs a reason alliance used to yell at anyone who capped FWGY before RH after the cave spawn was changed and that reason is that horde who die at FWGY spawn at RH making it much harder to take. The same would be true for taking AS.
Kinda mute with the trinket. It seemed to always be equipped on horde players. The strat was to either soft cap fwgy, or take both, forcing horde to trinket if they wanted to defend.there would be games where only 5 horde on offense. But can is such a pushover that he can killed with a 5 man. This was back near the end of the premade period. horde would lose often because they couldnât time their trinkets with each other so would die almost instantly.
dynamic spawn locations. blue team is south half the time.
mercenary mode. over-represented faction is raceswapped for the BG duration.
separated factions. you queue and pop into the blue team or the red team regardless if you were horde or alliance before.
I like this idea.
If so, then great. If not, then great. ![]()
No it wasnât. I can specifically remember defending SPGY and when it got soft capped would spawn at the AS to then defend from the bridge.
I also specifically remember having large battles at the FWKeep gate after having taken FWGY without having to worry about our flank.
Do you know how I remember these? I stopped doing alterac valley when TBC dropped and wouldnât do it again until WotLK with level 59 death knights.
Considering they put up invisi-walls in WSG where people werenât supposed to get to, maybe they can AT LEAST wall up the backdoor jumps near DB base? Makes it so that the alliance have at least one legitimate chokepoint on the bridge.
Might help a little, but this does not fix the 2-6 hour queue, or people that only go for rep.
