How will Blizzard deal with the increase in Private server's playerbase

After the fun people had during the stress test and the curiosity from those who didn’t get in private servers population will dratically increase.
That would not make a difference but I can definitly see players getting bored after seeing “all vanilla has to offer” and not even trying classic once it comes out.Mayeb even try it for a month of sub but then leaving.
How will Blizzard adress that? Will they make the 10 lvl cap stress test open 24/7 or something else? What other good idea is there?

“Ok, boss its August 28th. Do we send out the Cease and Desist letters today, or wait until tomorrow?”

Private Servers are a pale shadow of Classic, and we’re getting more and more confirmation of that by the day, as people realise how many differences there are.

I don’t think Blizzard is really concerned with people who are too cheap to pay $15 a month and so are satisfied with a poor imitation.

I’m talking about already having played in a pserver and getting bored after that.

I know what you mean. I don’t see it as an issue, because people who are eager to play will feel like any Private Server time is really just filling time, and those who played the stress test will see the glaring issues with the private servers, and yearn for the stability and quality of the real thing.

In a three month timeframe, the kind of tourist you’re describing is going to see, at most, a fraction of vanilla. It wasn’t like retail. You didn’t get railroaded through content designed to be completed on autopilot. It takes social skills and a significant time investment to get anywhere.

If they’re bored by the time Classic releases, they were never going to actually play Classic.

Non-issue.

From what I heard private sers are FILLED with players

Today…

Won’t last

Edit: their populations are significantly lower since the Classic announcement

Well, unless they nolife their way through the game. It IS possible to do a lot of it in 3 months, outside the stuff that’s time gated. It just means you’re not doing much of anything else in the interim.

I also think a number of Classic returnees will likely crossover to BfA, even if they only treat it as a single player game. A LOT of them, myself included, haven’t played through 2+ expansions worth of content, so even if we don’t intend to raid, there is stuff for us to see and do that we haven’t seen before. That could easily keep us around for another couple of months, especially if BfA is “our alt” to Classic while we’re doing that.

Will until august 27th

Pservers are the defacto substitute for beta access right now–hard to do much about that since they’re so widely available and known. Doubt many on them will burn out and therefore not play Classic. Some might try them and verify that they actually aren’t interested in Classic, but those would have only subbed for a month anyway and left, so its little lost revenue.

Launching Classic does provide a live, Blizzard client to check everything on though, so pservers should be ‘better than ever before’ because there’s no reason for them to be incorrect aside from modifications they choose to implement. That said, I think mostly they’ll have their populations collapse unless they’re offering specific, non-blizzlike rulesets that you can’t otherwise get.

Anyone on those servers now will tell you the chat is just Classic hype with basically zero people talking about staying on pservers after August—zero people talking about how they’re going to stay because its free or better or anything—just people meeting eachother and forming up with others to dive into Classic launch with.

Working as intended

For veterans of the private server circuit who know every raid and have the connections and history to establish themselves in raiding guilds, yes.

The people who have the personal experience necessary are an extreme minority, and moreover, aren’t the kind of person the OP is describing; specifically, they’ve proven to be nearly incapable of being bored by classic.

There’s enough in Classic to keep people occupied for literal years; that’s what it was designed to do.

That’s why pservers have “FRESH” every so often.

I sometimes have terrible visions of the fresh wars. Not all of the glimpses seem to be in the past.

OP is talking about end game and beyond.

pservers create fresh servers and a majority of players re-roll on these fresh servers.

It could last for years because people didn’t know what was coming, how to prepare themselves and what do next. Also no ggl for help etc

I can’t see why anyone that resubscribes for Classic even having the slightest interest in Retail. All the features that Retail players love about the current game are the exact things that drove the Classic crowd away in the first place.
