Has anything been said about the Elixir of Ancient Knowledge? I wonder if it will still be any good.
Who cares if veteran players level through old content fast? How fast I level affects no one but me, and I paid to make it faster than normal. So yes, I am upset the xp buff is being removed, as are many others in this thread.
Blizzard is completely revamping the leveling systems⊠why would they leave in a mechanic from the old process? Hypothetically lets say with heirlooms removed that level 49-50 is 100k xp. You want to keep the xp bonus enabled so to account for that they up the requirement to 150k xp. Itâs the exact same leveling time only punishing those without heirloom upgrades. This change serves a purpose and itâs better for the health of the game.
I donât see them reimbursing any gold for them. Players pay for upgrades all the time and they are VERY soon outdated. The heirlooms will still be good until the new expansion, so maybe itâs a good thing to work on leveling alts now instead of waiting.
Iâm sure everyone remembers what happened to the water striders. At least we got free equipment for the mounts so actually we have not suffered at all. Hopefully the new buff on the heirlooms will be equally good for leveling.
From what weâve been told, itâs really not actually. Leveling in SL is supposed to be faster than leveling is now, INCLUDING with the 50% xp buff and heirlooms we have now. All the more reason why the heirloom xp bonus going away isnât a huge deal.
The only reason I choose to level my alts now is so that they at least are fairly well geared to start the new zones without suffering too much.
We tried to tell people. We tried to warn people. If they do this once it will happen again. Something I worked for no longer can do itâs original function. And now for it to do that I need to have some equipment to make it happen. OH yes and BTW you need to BUY that said EQUIPMENT for each alt.
If you bought all Heirlooms for Gold, that can be bought. The base Buy price,
42 Armor x 500g = 21,000k gold.
11 Trinkets/Jewelry x 700g = 7700g.
11 Trinkets/Jewelry, not buyable.
Total Armor = 64 pieces. Total Gold = 28,700g.
Weapons
1 x 1000g = 1000g.
8 x 750g = 6000g
9 x 650g = 5850g
3 x 500g = 1500g.
Total Weapons = 21, Total gold price for all = 14,350g
Upgrades,
Armor to 90, 64 x 500g = 32,000g
Armor to 100, 64 x 1,000g = 64,000g
Armor to 110, 64 x 2,000g = 128,000g
Armor to 120, 64 x 5,000g = 320,000g
Total Armor cost, from purchase to 120 = 572,750g.
Weapons to 90, 21 x 750 = 15,750g
Weapons to 100, 21 x 1,500g = 31,500g
Weapons to 110, 21 x 3,000g = 63,000g
Weapons to 120, 21 x 7,500g = 157,500g
Total Weapon cost, from purchase to 120 = 282,100g
Total Armor and Weapon Cost, IE all Heirlooms to 120 = 854,850g,
This not including the not buyable from vendor with gold, which can be bought with gold from players, or requires gold to obtain.
Ah, okay well youâve done the math â I must have gotten mine from TW badges and other in-game methods (the upgrades) â because I only spent about a quarter of that.
However, that being said - with so many in-game methods to get the upgrades without having to spend any or much gold,
I donât agree that they must compensate players.
(but I understand others feel differently, ofc)
You will get a giant ZERO that canât be sold to the vendor
Just wanted to point out that were not saying everyone must be refunded but that they should give us a way to be refunded for those of us who wish it, as someone who spent a considerable amount of gold upgrading all of them for every spec specifically for the XP bonus I can say I for one want my gold back.
The issue isnât about the heirlooms as much as how they keep taking away stuff then making us grind to get them back, all of which seem designed to slow us down rather than improve the game. Although the game has been free for some time I think this will be my last expansion for a while.
At this point they should just completely remove heirlooms from the game and refund everyone the gold spent on them. Really they never should have been added in the first place.
Iâm not reading all that.
You buy heirlooms because of a specific aspect.
After purchase, the aspect is removed.
That is bait and switch.
There will be NO refunds of ANY kind, I bet.
Theyâll just add some replacement stat to heirlooms, and that will be that.
Donât expect a refund of any kind, youâre not likely to get one.
Your example is false, They make rare mounts less rare by changing spawn timers and drop rates. Rare and expensive pets, valuable beacuse they were over powered in bet battles, have had attacks nerfed making them worthless. Toys have had the cooldowns changed, the reforger on the yak was removed and no refund was given⊠heck when the darkmoon fair currency changed or the pet currency changed and people were left hold old currency no refund, remuneration or conversion was given for any of the above mentioned changes. Basically things change.
And heirlooms are not going to be worthless, they may be less beneficial but they are not going to be worthless; it depends what they add to them. If the add significant a movement speed boost, add instant or reduced mounting speed I would be less disappointed.
But as I said above, things change and there is little historical precedent for getting refunds.
can i have your stuff?
I would rather just see the heirlooms have more interesting effects, maybe like Legion legendaries or a set bonus or something that makes them more exciting to use.
Offering refunds is probably a no go. But they could salvage this in other ways.
You donât even know what this term means⊠Stop using it.
Bait and switch is a business tactic where a business knowingly advertised item at a huge discount to draw people in. Often stock was limited or the item never existed; for the sole purpose of selling a different higher priced item to the consumer instead. The key concept is a customer persuaded to buy a higher priced item because the low priced item is unavailable. Bait and switch is different that up-selling which is not illegal. But in any case, nothing like this is happening with heirlooms. They are not tricking people into buying something higher priced.
Anyone have a link to this heirloom change?
