In my never-ending quest to turn pro, I have considered using a Logitech G Extreme 3D Pro USB Joystick. What I want it to do is control movement (forward, backward, strafing, jumping and camera turning) plus tab targeting. Has anyone got experience with trying this? Thanks.
try it in plunderstorm and see?
I don’t have one yet.
If you’re looking for alternative controls I’d suggest a Razer Tartarus over a joystick.
Bind the movement to the thumbstick
A joystick has way more travel than what you’d want.
Gamepad would work better for the control. Joystick doesn’t have enough avenues for directional control.
This! Hands down.
I’ve 2-handed gamed with the original Belkin N52 and have successively moved up to each iteration over the past 20 years.
Only thing about it is that you’ll be left handing everything. Use it along with your mouse and it’s gold.
I have an Orbweaver. The thumbstick is pretty clumsy. I’m trying to get all the movement I described off the keyboard and into one hand. The Orbweaver can’t do it. I thought a joystick might.
I think an analog joystick is going to be way more clumsy for movement, but let me know how it goes.
I use the thumbstick on my G13 game pad almost exclusively for movement, works great but you still need to steer with your mouse. If you don’t use the mouse it’s slow and clunky, just like keyboard turning.
