What were you doing everyday ?
Good, LFR and trolling trade chat essentially. I’m pretty sure I got to 10/14LFR or something crazy on SoO.
LFR ? 10/14 ??
Farming, pet battling, brawling, LFR for my cloak and dailies. I also was part of a group that did the Wrath and Cata meta mount achievements.
p.s. MoP was a great xpac but it took me a few months to figure it out. At first pandas were very jarring to me and I thought them, emo monsters, rabbits that threw carrots at you and monkeys that want to assault you all night long was incredibly stupid. After I got pass my dislike of pandas and avoided the rabbits and monkeys, I started having a lot of fun.
Yeah I know right? I was really good back then. I know for sure I got at least six of the bosses while guilds on my server were advertising that they’ve only gotten like three bosses or so.
I remember doing dailies, the farm, and achievements everyday in MoP.
I also remember railing against Dailies on the forums at the time too, and while I agree Dailies are not amazing, I think they were probably superior to WQ’s.
I dunno
what dailies ? for ? unlocking gear , mounts ?
I remember goign to the shrine and picking up dailies to go do for the factions. Youd grind your rep to exalted and get the rep rewards.
essentially exactly like now.
WoW has been World of Factioncraft for MANY years…which is why Human is always the correct race…
Rep, mounts, transmog and titles.
I quit during TOGC patch and didn’t come back to the game until SoO in MoP. As far as what I did in MoP - Timeless Isle to gear up characters, and then raid Siege of Orgrimmar. That was it. Timeless Isle and raid. Very much a “raid or die” type of game. Reminded me of WoD in a way.
The raid content was fun, but yeah, MoP wasn’t particularly good. MoP and WoD are basically the exact same in my mind, except that MoP had dumb panda lore and zones whereas WoD had cool Warcraft zones. Both were still part of the dark era of WoW and the franchise didn’t turn around until Legion.
I remember having a blast leveling a pandaren monk and then took a break to play swtor. Came back around 5.3 and by then there was so much fun stuff to do, I was never bored. Raising my cloud serpent was legit a joyous gaming moment for me.
Lot’s of people on the forum complaining about how WoW was dying and LOL pandas.
How could I forget Timeless Isle. I spent a lot of time there.
What gear could you get from Timeless Isle compared to Raiding gear / Dungeons / PVP
it was good or just some basic gear to get into end game content
I quit early into MOP. Wasn’t a fan of how much it deviated from standard wow lore.
It was great. Loved 10-man raiding. I wasn’t hardcore into PvP, but I remember enjoying RBG’s quite a bit at the time too.
Dailies were just about rep, and rep had an endpoint of relevance with hitting Exalted. So at an earlier point than the game today, you’d be done with your “checklist” type gameplay, and just devote your playtime to the larger goals of the game. (Raiding, PvP, and Challenge Modes for those after those armor sets).
Today the game is designed much, much more around the benefits to going through a replenishing checklist on a day-to-day basis.
Oh the game was so good. I enjoyed doing everything pretty much, because class rotations felt so satisfying. Even doing dailies was fun. I would PvP so much as well. PvP gear was 2-3 times less grindy and more equal. There were a lot groups going on random and rated BGs. Rated BGs were actually pretty accessible because there were so many players participating on low end.
There was an oQueue add-on that was a third party Group Finder. You could find groups for everything. At the same open world zones weren’t sharded yet, so world PvP was still local and personal.
I would make a lot of alts, because there were no borrowed power and systems to maintain. You could basically reach level cap and start gearing in whatever content you prefer.
i liked it. it was my first expac. the only thing i regret about it was that i didn’t get the damn heirloom weapons or was that in WoD? or the cloak which imo has nice visuals. either way though i mean i only started to play WoW regularly during cata despite i started in i think BC.
idk when i was young i was just different. went outside a lot and played with neighborhood kids, watched tv, etc… now im just the opposite.
If I recall correctly, there were base items that sucked, but then you could get “Burdens” which could update those items to somewhat viable ilvl, but the Burdens were rarer or took more currency to purchase.
The trinkets from SoO were OP though so even though you had that gear you still wanted to be getting your gear from the raid. Also SoO had set items.
MOP was a very visual place to play in. Did a lot of what ever it is that I do, stuff~
